  • Good video on Skytrack and GC2 testing side by side

Apologies if this has been posted before but i just came across a good video of a Skytrak and GC2 being tested side by side.

I have only just seen it on my phone but from a quick look my initial impressions are that Skytrak is practically spot on with GC2 when it comes to ball speed, spin, launch angle, carry etc.. especially on the shorter clubs. Skytrak seems to then show less carry on drivers even though the ball speed, spin and launch angle seem close (skytrak maybe reading ball speeds a little lower on some of the strikes though)

I know club speed isnt measured but its consistently less than on GC2 which what ive always found too. (I've always been about 105mph on trackman and GC2 whereas my skytrak always says about 98mph)

All in all its a good video to give confidence on the numbers for existing owners or to answer questions for potential new owners...

I've never seen the ST placed between golfer and ball. Is this common? Any thoughts on the pros and cons? Certainly protects from the occasional stray ball, but what about exposing it to club hits?

I was probably done so that both units could read same shot. It's also useful to confirm whether or not a laser curtain has failed.

I always love watching these videos because it shows off the ~5 mph of ball speed I'm losing around 160 MPH. Cannot wait for this to be addressed in this next release.

Some have mentioned having left handed players swing over the Skytrak so everyone can play together. I would be very uncomfortable with how close Shanky's woods were getting to the Skytrak...

I got on gc2 today and it seems to give me on average 6mph faster ball speed with a driver. The other thing I noticed was the gc2 algorithm seems to give more carry than the skytraks algorithm. Overall with the increase in speed gc2 algorithm carry is 20-25 yards more than skytrak.

My irons seem spot on with either device.

What is your approximate ball speed?

Great video!! It does show that there is a discrepancy for big hitters on the SkyTrak range with the high ball speeds and it’s not in people’s heads. Still, bang for your buck, it’s hard to beat the SkyTrak.

SkyTrak is supposedly addressing the ball speed issue.
      Working...
