    Newbie please help

Just purchased a used skytrak from the internet. I was very excited to test it out since i'm upgrading from the optishot2. Upon installing i cannot seem to keep the skytrak connected long enough for me to take a swing. It keeps disconnecting then trying to reconnect. I'm currently setup as direct connect (using the skytrak wifi on my laptop) . I wanted to try using the usb connection but it won't connect that way. I researched online and tried to install the driver manually, updated my microsoft c++ and it still won't connect. The skytrak is still registered to the previous owner, not sure if that has any affect at all.

Hopefully someone can help me with this, its extremely frustrating

You say the SkyTrak is still registered to the previous owner. You must log in every time the SkyTrak software is opened so how are you doing that?

I assume you first turn on the SkyTrak and let it do its thing and get to the red light. Then you connect your laptop to the SkyTrak wifi network that shows up? I will also assume you have adequately charged the SkyTrak first?

Do you ever see the SkyTrak software indicate a device has connected? This is a green indicator on the bottom of the screen after you've logged in.

When I first got my new (used from another member on here) it still showed them as the previous owner when I first attached to it with Direct Connect (SkyTrak wifi on and connected from my laptop wifi) and then when I went to set it up I ended up having to register it with my credentials which ended up removing the GIP from the previous owner and started fresh for my log in. From there I tried my local wifi but found it worked better with a direct USB connection and am using it that way currently. I lost the GIP from the previous owner which he tried to transfer but was told it is not transferable but I am fine with that and it is now connected and registered under my account and working as expected.

My guess here is that your trying to access the ST under your ST account while in Direct Connect mode to the ST unit and it is trying to reach out to the ST database to confirm it is "ready" for use but since neither device is connected to internet to reach the database it is giving this issue for you (trying to authenticate its capabilities).

My suggestion is if the previous owner did not give you their ST account info then your probably going to need to register it under your ST account which will lose any "upgrades" they had on it and you will have to start from basic and upgrade under your personal account.... just a guess at whats causing it to get to ready then reset.. Hope you get it figured out and start enjoying your new LM!

thank you guys for the responses. I made an account on skytrak last night and was able to log in however in the about settings it still shows registered to previous owner. Not being able to connect the system the "network" way i went online to their page and was able to reregister skytrak under my name causing it to start for the basic practice course. When i logged back into my name on skytrak it updated and now says my name for registered.

I still can't get the usb connection to work or even network connection to work. The only one that works is direct and it keeps disconnecting and reconnecting.
I tried different usb cables and did notice some would only charge while others my laptop would recognize as winusb? It will also pop up in my "devices and printers' as unspecified under the icon Rapsodo Personal launch monitor. So my laptop seems to see it but the skytrak software on my pc doesn't?

Did you try to reset it? sounds like its trying to go to network mode, resetting it should fix that.

I've tried resetting it, it shouldn't be this difficult. This is so beyond frustrating

I suggest you follow the setup guide. After each step that works check it off. The first step that does not as expected tell us what step that is, what steps you have done, and the status of the 3 lights on the skytrak. How old is your laptop? How old is your router?

Guys I got it !!!!!!!!! I can't thank you all enough for the support and help. Here is what my issue was

In my garage where the simulator is being setup I am using a router that is connected to the main modem in the house through ethernet . So the outside ip for that router is a 192. Number and the manual states that as long as it's not 10.0.0.1 it will be ok. It would never connect to the network though. Being too cold outside to try and figure it out I brought it inside and that's when it clicked. My main modem gateway is 10.0.0.1

I quickly changed it to 192.168.0.1 rebooted the system, hard reset on skytrak. Linked directly and they followed the steps for doing it for the network and the lights turned green! We are ready to tee off

Awesome! Glad to hear you got it sorted. As far as the unit registration, you won't be able to register it until it is detached from the previous owner. If you contact customer support, they will be able to take care of this for you quickly.
