I don't think this is a skytrak issue but more of a user issue. I'm using my skytrak to improve my swing. For the last couple of years, I've had a very rounded swing. I've decided to try and get the club going up more and using my wrists more (more orthodox). My ball striking feels so much better after a couple of sessions and normally my 8i was about 135 yards but on my good shots now getting 145 to 150. A problem I've noticed with this steeper swing is sometimes I'm getting a great contact but ridiculous amount of spin, around 10,000, sends my ball high and floaty and kills my distance. Any tips on keeping spin down to increase distance? Cheers.

High spin with irons

All 6 hit with 8i. At the moment, the swing is totally different to what I'm used to so spraying it a lot and getting varied distance 120 to 160. I expect that until I get comfortable with the swing and can control it. This high flight and high spin is a bit puzzling as the launch seems low for an 8i.

You are very close to LPGA numbers, so that is a good reference point:
LPGA 8 iron:
Ball speed: 100 mph
VLA: 20.8
Spin: 7494
Carry: 130 y
Spin is definitely high, especially coming off a mat. Launch and carry are not far off optimal for ball speed.

Try:
1) Different balls.
2) Making sure the ball logo faces the unit.
3) Making sure the unit is level with the mat, and is level.
4) Using a small amount of foot powder to record where on the club face you are impacting the ball, and see if you can find any correlation.
5) Hitting off a tee to see if that makes any difference.

I noticed this with my swing as well. My spin with my 7 iron was going from 6,000 to 11,000. The lower spin shots had nice flight, the high spin shots fell short. I run into the same issue with my driver. I have not settled on a swing as I am still trying to figure out what works and what doesn't so I am not suggesting that the same swing is producing different spin readings. I am sure the swings are drastically different as I change my back swing, transition, release, etc. But 11,000 . . . damn!
