  • SkyTrak range users, how do you aim if you’re a straight fader or drawer of the ball?

    Hey fellow range rats,

unless im missing something, over the last few months of ownership, I’ve noticed I can’t adjust my aim point in the range sessions.

I’m a straight fade or straight drawer of the golf ball, so I need to aim 5-10 yards to the left/right if the pin.

I dont enjoy the range as much because I’m always missing the greens or bullseye in skill assessments because I don’t generally pull fade or push draw.

Am I missing something (like maybe my Bluetooth keyboard was disconnected and I just never realized when trying to use the arrows) Or do I need to change my swing to actually get close to the pin!?

I don't understand? When I was on the skytrak range, if I wanted to hit a draw I started right of target and if I wanted to hit a cut I started it left of target???
    what am I missing here?

You know, like in TGC you can aim to the left or right of the pin that’s my question. I assume it’s not possible but wasn’t sure if I was missing something.

Yeah I don't remember aiming with a mouse on the range. I just hit left or right of the target. The skytrak handles the horizontal la just fine. I usually practiced with a 7 iron keeping hla less than 5 degrees. Usually around 0-3 degrees left or right depending on the shot shape.

The only way to aim left or right in Skytrak range is to physically setup left or right. There is no aiming reticule like in TGC.

When I first got my Skytrak I asked about this as well as with my setup (tight to a wall on the right) I couldn’t hit the targets at all because I was playing a big draw. My “draw” was arguably a hook.

The good news for me is that with all the practice on the Skytrak I now hit it pretty straight so 0 vla and a draw still catches the green with only the pulls or real hooks missing left.

Yeah agree would be nice if SkyTrak app allows ability to aim at a target on range like all the simulator software.

For me at least it's pretty much the same as on the course. If I'm going to fade a ball in I setup to aim to the left of the green, if I'm going to draw it I aim right.

I tend to only use the Skytrak range now for warmup and if I am trying to work on something new. I find the challenges difficult without being able to aim as I play with a power draw (not a hook ), I can't aim far enough right in my setup to hit middle of the targets.

You could theoretically angle the skytrak unit one way or another if that is what you wanted to do. I tend to just aim and keep the unit in place. No issues there.
