    Skytrak new user questions.

Love this forum. Many thanks for answering my previous questions!
    Two questions.
So, Day 2 of using Skytrack out doors on my deck hitting off a fiberbuilt mat. The unit is shaded by an umbrella and not in direct sun. The red dot periodically disappears for two or three seconds so am getting non reads when I hit in this timeframe. If this usual or am I doing something wrong?

Does Skytrak accurately record club head speed or just ball speed and uses an algorithm to figure out CHS.
If the latter is the case, can I rely on accurate smash factor readings?
    Thanks in advance

I have never used my ST outside, but the dot going in and out isn't normal unless you wave your club through the area. I try not to swing my club until I see the dot steady on the mat.

The second question is just as you mentioned, it's guessed based off of the ball data. I don't think you can get accurate smash factor unless you use a swing analyzer.

Even with a swing analyzer its not going to be correct. I've read several posts about inaccuracies of all the swing analyzers even when coupled with ST. I wouldn't focus too much on Smash Factor. Worry more about consistent ball flight and spin axis numbers.

Skypro club head speed is quite accurate if you enter the correct length of the club. I compared it to trackman, and it was within one mph most of the time. The swing speed radar is pretty good too, but you need to subtract 2-3 mph for driver, because it reads the toe (fastest moving part) rather than centre of face.

If you want to know your driver swing speed without additional hardware, I'd take your highest measured ball speeds and divide by 1.48.

Same here, I've never used my ST outside yet. I will sometime but haven't had the chance. I'm anxious to see actual ball flight compared to what ST sees.

Regarding the laser going out for a few seconds, that happens to me sometimes but it's only out for a few seconds and could be attributed to something else crossing over the laser like a club head or something. I always get the laser back so I can't claim there's a problem with the ST unit. I don't lose the laser when I've placed my ball on it if that's what you're implying.
