No recommendation, really as I'm not all that iLiterate*. What I can tell you is that I have a mini 2 and it works fine. A few seconds delay in displaying of the shot but I don't have a problem with that as I am not all that interested in hitting balls like a machine gun. The display is a little on the small side so unless you have a way to stand it pretty close to where you are going to be, you may want to consider the full size model. I have not been in a position where I wanted a larger screen except when I am having multiple use it and we both want to watch the screen. HTH. *iLiterate - (adj.) able to demonstrate knowledge of all things Apple while basking in the pretentious glow of its superiority.

I appreciate the feedback. My thoughts with the most recent version are that it will be able to handle updates longer, it will perform better and it does the slow motion video which would be helpful in my business when not using it for skytrak. (Baseball/softball hitting instruction.)
Are there any more user videos available? Seems like this forum is the most active with details on this. I've gone through chunks of this thread but not the whole thing. I'm really looking forward to just an open range look at ball flight, but my friends are all about potential simulator capabilities.

I was curious about the Skytrak return policy just in case and Zmax found this for me to share:

Hello, yes I have done this with Pro V1's and other balls including some non-comforming USGA distance balls, and the results were quite different with each. The spin rates are what is most effected along with ball spend due to compression.

I did some comparisons with a variety of balls that happened to end up in my pocket. As you go down to one digit handicap, you care more about spins especially. In general, brand balls above 30 dollars per dozen show much higher spins for shots within 150 yards. Spin means control. So, one day I just threw out a lot of 'non-premium' balls out of my stock. I now stick to pro v1/v1x and srixon z star. That experiment was a big benefit of having Skytrak.Originally posted by btewks View PostHad a question about ball use for those who have this... I played the Z Star XV almost all year. Started testing with Nike RZN Blacks towards the end of the year but never got a chance to play them in reasonable temps. I can't wait to test things with driver/irons/wedges and find the best mix. Probably pick up some sample packs from LostGolfBalls and mess around with the numbers. Also intrigued by the new Callaway ball.

Seth said, before Christmas, it has been in the hands of Apple waiting for approval. I guess 1.8 should be available anytime soon. At least, in the middle of next week. (Fingers crossed. )Originally posted by DougieMn View PostAny word on when 1.8 is to be released? Did Seth say its in the hands of Apple but waiting approval?

I just found out something interesting with my Skytrak / Monster Tee mat combo and the effect of the mat on launch angle and spin rate. In a nutshell, it makes a significant difference. Check out my post in the "Build Your Own" forum if you are interested in reading more:

Hi all,
Apparently the PC version/integration is available. Dont know if this has been stated earlier (im only up to page 22 of 78), so hope im not repeating someone else.
I have been speaking to a rep at Sky-Trak.com NOT skytrakgolf.com about purchasing a unit from them. They have advised me that their units (which have been out for about a year now from my understanding) are compatible with Windows PC and have SIM capabilities. They sell two different version, Mobile and PC, with three different applications available "Basic" shot stats only, "Pro" 3d shot sim like the app in the appstore, and "Game" not information provided by the rep. I have asked for more details on each and will let you know as soon as i have this.
Anyway, have a look at the Sky-Trak.com website (use google translate if required), go into about sky-trak > Product Introduction, then scroll half way down the page until you see the "PC version Windows Image". That looks like the Accusport VRange software right? Any thoughts?
ALSO, if you go to the Purchase menue, then click Purchase, you can clearly see they sell a Mobile version and a PC version.
Again, sorry if this has been mentioned before.
Michael
