  • Skytrak shots ballooning

I had Skytrak since December 2016. I have noticed this issue before, but I thought it was normal.
My normal shot is draw, and those numbers look pretty accurate, However, when I try to fade it, the ball flies really high and it has really high spin even with 7 iron, and spins back a few yards on the practice range.
Also when I push the shot, it has really low spin and flies 190yds with 7iron.
Does anyone's skytrak machine do this? or does mine need to be calibrated or something?

That can happen in real life. Fade has face open to path, so more loft, higher launch, and higher spin. The opposite for draw. Take the spin back with a grain of salt as I don't believe it is based on real physics.

I see what you are saying. But in real life, my shots are never like that. It's either push or draw. It never balloons and fades like that. But with skytrak, if I push my 7iron goes about 200 yds with 2000rpm or it goes 120 yds with 10000rpm with the club face slightly opened. That's why I was asking if other users had similar experience.

10k with a 7iron doesn't seem right at all. Can you give the ball speed and launch angle as well?

Hi Bongta - What kind of golf ball are you using? If you have a golf ball with a logo turn the logo facing the unit.

Ok I'll try that. I have been using Nike rzn platinum, Kirkland signature, and Titleist balls. I'm changing it to Bridgestone next week, so I'll see if there's any changes.

If it does not happen on the course, something is up. 10K spin is excessive. Possibilities:
              • You swing differently on ST than in real life. (Unlikely given 10K spin off mat).
              • Mat/club/ball interaction. (Mats will typically result in higher launch, but LOWER spin, so unlikely)
              • Ball issue.
              • Skytrak setup issue.
              • Faulty skytrak.
Let's hope it is ball, as it is the simplest fix.

Measure the distance from the red dot to the base unit and make sure it's around 12".

I'll try to hit some balls tonight again.
