I know this has been discussed before but I have not seen a fix or workaround for it that has helped. I cannot even complete a wedge matrix out of frustration. It’s several tries to get one read. I have tried ball closer to unit and in front of and behind the laser and it doesn’t seem to matter. These are shots where the red laser continues to stay on as if no ball was ever hit. Full shots work great. My question is am I the only one with this issue? Is this the start of a laser curtain failure? Is they anything I can do to cut down the no reads.

I've had similar results with the wedge matrix and in Fitness Golf. I find flighting down a wedge or playing a bump and run in sim really cuts down on the numbers of misreads. I seems to be worse some days and I practice 4-5 days a week. Could be swing variation but definitely some days are worse than others. I've had a laser curtain replaced and this acts different. When the laser curtain went out it went from two greens and a red with no register to three straight greens with zero registration on the unit. Hopefully somebody has cracked the code and can share.

I suppose you need to trouble shoot. You could start hitting easy 9 o'clock shots with say 8 iron and then go to progressively short clubs to see where the no-reads start. Its a long shot, maybe you could try a different brand of wedges to see if it makes a difference. Pitches have a smash factor around 1, which means that the club and the ball pass the image sensor around the same time.
In the end, as long as the sensors pick up two good images of the ball without interference/reflections, it should read. You may have to think of it in terms of trajectory relative to the image sensors, which may be a ways in front of the red dot. And yes elevating unit may help in this regard. You do have to be mindful of not exceeding the maximum launch angle that the ST can detect. Can't remember off the top of my head, but it should have no trouble picking up a regular 60 degree lob wedge pitch. Flop shot with open face, no.
