Update or no update the thing works really well, particularly in its price range. I love the damn thing and it has improved my golf game a ton.
You spend a couple thousand dollars on a device that compares quite favorably accuracy wise to others that cost multiple times that, it does its job and does it well at a great price point. I suppose if I generated 150 mph + ball speed I'd be more concerned, but I don't so as far as I'm concerned there's just not that much to complain about "update" wise.
It's worth the money as is, I can think of a couple things I'd like to see improved but it is still a treat. I'd buy another one in a heartbeat.
I have been wanting to buy a Skytrak for over a year, but now that I can finally afford it, they have gone dark. I reached out to them on Facebook today to express my concern in it being a year since the last update and this was their response: "Unfortunately, we do not have a set date for the software update. We will release more information when it becomes available."
The long time period since the last software update is unusual for SkyTrak, but the current version is solid and folks in general are very happy with the product judging by a poll I took on my SkyTrak Users Group on Facebook a couple weeks ago. I asked "if you had to do it all over, would you buy a SkyTrak again?" 164 SkyTrak owners responded, and here are the results:

I guess my concern really is FOMO based. If I buy Skytrak now, and then in Q4 they release a whole new unit with superior hardware, will I be unhappy I didn't wait or will the OG still be enough?
I, for one, would say: wait until they release more information.
I'm not at all satisfied with accuracy. A few days ago I did a session with my 8 iron with good shots ranging from 150yards total distance, to 230yards total distance.
At this point, it's a total guessing game. Spin is all over the place. Totally useless for the moment.
...or case or environment interfering. Skytrak is an excellent piece of kit for the money. I have gc2 and Skytrak, very little between them in accuracy imo
When I had skytrak it was very accurate and very repeatable. I really dialed my wedges in with it and learned all my iron carry numbers. It transferred beautifully outdoors. I felt the driver may have been 3-5 mph slower but it was consistent.
I never looked at total distance just carry distances.
I bought a refurbished one two years ago and have had great results with no issues. Something new is always going to come out, but you are missing out if you have nothing.I hear a lot of concerns over high ball speed issues, but for me, in the two years that I have had it I have gone from 140 mph ball speeds to 160mph ball speeds. It has amazed my golfing buddies how much better I swing and score. That alone has been worth it, but with the weather starting to change in the northern states (snow this weekend) it provides joy and a little exercise through the winter.
"......but with the weather starting to change in the northern states (snow this weekend) it provides joy and a little exercise through the winter."
I lost about 8 pounds last winter after getting a SkyTrak and put about 20-30 yards on my driver. As opposed to a usual long midwest winter and gaining 8 pounds and losing about 20-30 yards on my driver........ ;-)
Despite my recent concerns documented elsewhere on this forum, I had great success and enjoyment with my skytrak over the last few years. I do not regret my purchase and believe it has helped my game improve greatly.
1 year and no updates...and you think that is bad!? My toaster and tv have had no updates in the last 10 years!
If the reason is GDRP I can understand it as any breaches are serious $£€...but a year to fix would suggest they are in a bad way and in turn you wonder how secure our personal data is!
You are wasting energy thinking about updates. It’s an exercise in futility. Just buy one
my short game is way up after a good 10 months of practice with my skytrak. I have many gripes about Sim play with TGC and Skytrak, but just that, small gripes. I got the Skytrak for practice and feel like the Sim play being so in depth it was just a bonus.
