E6 Connect on Mac BootCamp crashes, any ideas?

I had recently installed the iOS version of E6 and was trying out the Demo version. It is not bad, but the graphics weren't great on the iPad version and I am not sure it is that much better than WGT for my purposes. As I am a Mac guy, I can't justify buying a gaming laptop just for this, so the iPad is really my only option. However, it was mentioned that E6 could run on a Mac through BootCamp so I thought I would give it a go.

Initially, I installed Parallels and signed up for the 14 day free trial for the Windows license. Got that all installed as well as E6 and launched the program. Things looked very promising at first as the opening screen came up, graphics and all looked very crisp and sharp. I signed in to my account and started updating some settings. When I got to selecting the launch monitor, I chose the SkyTrak and then the app just crashed. Every time I tried relaunching E6 after that, the opening music started sputtering from the beginning and then just crashes. Thinking that this might be the issue between Parallels and BootCamp, I uninstalled everything and then set up a partition on bootcamp. Got Windows installed there and installed E6. Again, the same issue, looked promising at first until I went to select Skytrak as the monitor and then it all crashed.


The specs on my MacBook Pro are fairly high as it is a 2017 3.1 GHz Dual-Core Intel Core i5 with 16 GB RAM with the Intel Iris Plus Graphics 650 1536 MB Graphics Card.

I am also trying it out on my Mac which is a late 2015 4 GHz Quad-Core Intel Core i7 with 32 GB RAM but my guess is that I will get the same result.

Has anyone else had this issue and was there a fix for it?

Any insight you could give would be appreciated.

I tried on my iMac and it is doing the same thing although I could get it to stay open long enough to get the following error message. Does that make sense to anyone?

I know several guys have TGC2019 running on Macs with Bootcamp. Not sure what might be different with E6 Connect.

Looks perfect; but the courses are very dark. Black. The only thing you can see are divots.

AntzInYourPantz I'm guessing you are having this issue when using Parallels and not booting into Windows. The same thing (black world except for divots)happens when I try to run TGC19 in Proton/DVIK/Linux on AMD GPU. AFAIK TGC19 is DX12 only. Does Parallels support DX12 yet?

I use GRUB(linux bootcamp) to boot to Windows if I want to run TGC19. You might want to try booting Windows or see if GPU passthrough is supported in Parallels yet.

I thought DX11 was required.
Problemwas with usage of Parallels.
So I Will try bootcamp.

Any other suggestions are welcome!

Thanks. Do they find TGC2019 running on Mac with Bootcamp to perform well? TGC2019 also looks pretty good, especially with the course design tool. It is quite a bit more expensive than E6 though so I wonder if it would be worth the difference.

More expensive?? E6 $2500 usd purchased 27 courses. TGC $895 100k+ courses.

I run e6 connect on a MacBook Pro 2018 bootcamp partition. Did you do all of the windows updates including newer versions of the bootcamp drivers? My machine had to download updates and reboot, and then download more updates and reboot several times before it was ready. I’ve been running it for about 3 weeks now. I use multiple external screens, etc. The fans spin up for a few minutes in the beginning and then quiet down. Runs well. I plan to move to a dedicated windows machine eventually but can’t complain right now.

Intel Iris Plus Graphics 650 is way below the performance of the recommended GPU for e6 Connect.

Thanks guys, I got it figured out, well, with the help of E6 support. E6 support had asked if I had installed all of the updates and, particularly, the 64-bit SkyTrak software as it also includes an update to Visual C++ 2012. I thought that I had gotten a message when I installed E6 about needing to install Visual C++ but then it dawned on me, I hadn't actually installed the SkyTrak software. Once I got that installed and E6 installed again, it all works perfectly fine.

Thanks Jerome, this is insightful. I may look at this in the future. As above, I did get everything installed correctly now and this seems to be working. I will try out simulation in the morning but in the meantime, I could observe the flyover and it looks pretty good although a bit choppy. I am sure the GPU would make things much better.

That is awesome. Are you able to share video or pics on the graphics? I’m interested in seeing th quality. I ordered my Mevo+ and want e6 once it arrived.

The new Parallels 2015 supports DX11 where previous versions did not, has anyone tried running it on Parallels 2015? If it doesn't work on the standard 15 has anyone tried it on the pro version? Thanks
