  • Limited flight balls with skytrak

I'm wondering if anyone here has has luck with accurate readings on limited flight balls. And if so, which ones?

My sim is a little short, I hit only 8'-10' from the screen. I love the feel of real gold balls with my irons but woods are a different story. There is sooo much force from a driver on a real golf ball. In a small space, it can be scary. Especially when it's being hit by someone else!

I'd like to find "limited flight" balls that will read accurately off the skytrak. So far, I've tried regular old sponge golf balls and "Almost Golf Balls". Both read very short and I assume throws the skytrak off because they are spongy and compress so much off the face.

Has anyone else had success with any other balls?

    Thanks,

I’m 8 feet from my screen I use real golf balls with now issues whatever driver at 160mph ball speeds just drop down about half way
do you have your screen to tight giving it a trampoline effect?

I actually have no issue with real balls and I swing at about 130mph. They drop nicely off the screen. What I don't like is my wife toeing one off the wall with a driver or friends sculling one underneath the screen, or popping it up into the ceiling.

A perfect shot is no issue...there's just too many imperfect shots happening for me to feel good about real golf balls flying around in there.

If I remember correctly a while back someone was using something similar to limited flight golf balls and they recorded it and got some really strange reading not even close to accurate. Insane launch angles with crazy side spins it was just no realistic at all. I think Skytrak needs real balls.

Best thing to do is buy 1 and try it out.

"Limited flight" balls are limited because they have lower ball speed off the club. There is no way to use anything other than real balls if you want real distances and flight. Almost balls and regular foam practice balls are great for kids and newbies if you're worried about them breaking stuff - they won't care about the "wrong" ball flight anyway.
