  • problems since latest version

    After two years of use with little or no problems at all my Skytrak has suddenly begun to exhibit frequent no reads, occasional bizarre misreads, frequent long intervals before shot reset, and a couple instances of slow, stuttering ball travel displays.

    This began after installing the new 3.4.1 version. I want to go back to the 2018 version and see if that helps, but I can't find a download for previous versions. I have been to this page https://www.skytrakgolf.com/support/downloads but it only seems to list the previous versions, it doesn't offer a download option.

    Does anyone know how to get a previous version?

    I would like to know if this is possible also... I have seen similar issues. I also seem to have to re log in every 3rd Time which is a pain since I use it direct connected so I have to go back and connect to the internet to do this. It also doesn’t seem to save my presets in skills challenge anymore. Hopefully they get these bugs fixed soon

    I don't have 3.3.2 handy, but here is 3.1 from March 2018: http://downloads.skygolf.com/Softwar...ytrakSetup.exe

    The latest version is a database change, and I don't know what happens if you go backwards.. so downgrade at your own risk.

      This may be obvious - but have you cleaned the ST screen (a spectacles cloth with a dab of pure water does it well).

      Recently I started getting lots of misreads and pauses. I ascribed this to all kinds of hi tech causes but then to my shame I found that the answer was..........cobwebs.

        I had forgotten about the db change. Not sure how to handle that. I had done a quick wipe of the screen, but then had the worst series of missteps yet. Today I wiped the screen more thoroughly with a soft rag and water and only experienced the slow reset. Will keep testing.

          You could use another laptop to test old version. Just don't log in. If you don't have another computer, re-install old version, but don't log in. That way you won't mess with the DB. There have been many anecdotes, but I highly doubt the new version is causing anything other than log-in issues. Possibly also connection issues for some users, maybe a bug. You could try it from a phone or tablet to see if it has same issues.

        I also have been having problems all of a sudden.

        The summary of them is that it'll be working, then suddenly won't read. It won't be frozen, as I can click around, but it won't read any shots.

        But the weird thing is, while trying to restart/fix it, it always takes different things. Sometimes I can just exit my range session. Sometimes I need to restart the app (iPad). Sometimes I need to restart the Skytrak unit. Sometimes, I need to restart the entire iPad for it work.

        And when it doesn't work with a certain method, what happens is, the program will be loading, and just get stuck at 98 or 99%. Very strange...

          Hey guys, thanks for the heads up. When you say the unit stops registering shots, are all 3 lights on the unit green or is the top light stuck red? If all 3 green, that sounds like a hardware trigger laser. Nothing to do with the update but with 40,000+ SkyTraks out there, unfortunately some hardware failures coincidentally will line up with new software releases.

          If the top light is stuck red and the app freezes, I would suggest closing the app (hard close if you have to), then reopen and go to Profile>ABOUT>Send Logs>Send Previous Log. You can either email that to logs@skytrakgolf.com or send it to me in a PM here. Make sure if you email that you put something in the subject and body that describes the problem you are having.

          I would not recommend downgrading versions due to the database changes as others have mentioned, although you could try it without logging in as suggested above. My guess with the slow ball flight/lag is that it was bogged down trying to sync data in the background. As you've used it more, hopefully all of your old data synced - is it still lagging?

            Sorry, hadn't checked this thread for a while. Recently the only problems I've seen are the long shot resets (shot display is normal, but it takes a long time for the shot light to turn green again after the shot has been plotted on screen) and the occasional no-read, I'll keep notes if I see the other more serious issues happening again. I'm still using the latest update and have not made any changes.
