Game Improvement or Play & Improve?

Ive purchased a used basic SkyTrak and whilst I save up some more cash to go the whole hog and get a gaming laptop/TGC 2019 combination, I want to have at least some sim golf experience out on the course. I think I will get bored of the standard features quickly.

What are the exact differences between the 2 and in your view, is the Play & Improve worth the extra $99?

I'm in the exact same boat. Just got a Skytrak last week and I'm waiting to purchase TGC and a gaming laptop later this year when I have some more cash saved up.

I got the play and improve plan so that I could play WGT on a temporary basis until I'm ready to make the big purchase. WGT can't compare to TGC but it at least gives you something else to do besides beat balls on the range. I'm not much of a range rat, so WGT keeps me entertained for now.

While WGT is just okay, it's worth the extra money if you need something to hold you over temporarily until you're ready to pull the trigger on something better. It's 12 courses, single player only and no tournaments. And chipping is freaking impossible.

Doesn't WGT have a monthly tournament? Scroll down on the page to see the February contest

Yes, you are correct. Though it appears to just be a 9 hole event(?)

I can tell you this, I have had my unit since the beginning and at first you will love the feedback and can easily spend hours fitting balls and clubs. As you go on through if you are like me you may need some things to keep it interesting, the greens and fairways in the practice area are great mini sims for target practice. I use the randomizer on the greens setting to simulate more of a course situation where you are taking different clubs out of your bag.

We have had closest to the pin challenges during get togethers with friends for hours at night, In my opinion it is worth the $99, but I use mine a couple of times a week during the off season and still weekly during peak season, so you may need to evaluate your use.

          Good luck.

I was in the same position, bought an iPad and went with Play & Improve plan for $99 for the sim experience. While I did enjoy the basic ST functions, especially bag mapping, wedge matrix and the challenges (long-drive, near pin, etc.), I did enjoy WGT for a while. I recently bit the bullet and bought a gaming laptop, TGC 2019 and am loving it. I just published my first designed course and am now working on courses 4-5. I now find myself spending as much time designing the courses as I do playing the sim, haha.

Can you tell me what courses you have designed on TGC, would love to play them, give you some feedback or at least help get you rating on TGC.

Thanks, that would be appreciated. So far I have only published one, it is a LiDAR course from my home course back in TX and is called RB Golf Club & Resort LDR. Appreciate any feedback. I am in the process of creating a few of my local course in Japan.

I created one hole from one of the courses I play as a lidar test. It plays true, but I ran out of steam adding some of the cosmetics. I am about to buy TGC2019 for the sim, so that will inspire me to keep at it.
              Working...
