  • Easier courses and gimmes

I am fairly new to TGC 2019 with my skytrak. Is there any way to choose different tees so the courses dont play so long? And if not can anyone recommend any easier courses that are actual courses not user made ones?

Second question is with putting. I do not have an ideal outting setup and would like to set 1 stroke gimmes from 6 feet in. I cannot figure out how to do this. Is it possible and if so can you help me figure out how?

Quite a few courses have white and red tees. Some even have junior tees. Chadgolf (the brilliant man who created the lidar import tools) designed Summerlin's Angel Park three courses as one of his first. It has tees that 10 year old kids can play. In fact, my son played it as a 10 year old in a tournament, and it was great to "be back".

As for autoputt, I just ran TGC2019 for the first time two days ago, and I found it right away. Sorry, can't remember, I was just clicking on settings or something, it was right there.

Maybe I'm just brain dead but I haven't found one course yet that gives me an option for different coloured tees. And as for putting it seems really confusing with setting it to distance or gimme and then it tries to explain gimme plus one or gimme plus two. I am just looking for a simple setting that says anything within 6 feet is a 1 stroke gimme

I haven't found a course that doesn't give options for tees (I haven't tried that many, but at least 10). Once you choose begin round, you click on the tee that comes up, and the different tees options appear.

Angel Park Mountain has 4300, 5100, 5600 and so on.

As for the gimme, I was confused about that too. I ignore the ones that talked about distance and just set it to gimme, which is six feet by default I guess.

When you add the players, under the player you will see what tee color to play, click on that and it will list available options and yardages.

I made a course called "Heatherwood GC (LiDAR)" that was my local practice ground on Long Island, NY before it closed. It only has one set of tees, but thats only because it was so short to begin with. 4000~ yard executive from the tips. Pretty much as short as you can get without being a Par 3 specialty (there are 6 Par 4s, no Par 5s). Give it a go!

As for putting, the setting you want is "Gimme". By default that will make everything within 6 feet a gimme, dont have to touch anything else. Don't use distance unless you want to fiddle with longer ranges.

I have also published my first LiDAR course under "RB GC & Resort v2 (L)" which is the local course back at my home on Lake Bridgeport in TX. I have 4 sets of tees, Blue, White, Gold and Red. It is not a very long course anyway but if you play from Red, it would play quite short. I made a v2 because the first one I published had greens that were too fast and too firm. The current version is much more player-friendly I believe. Give it a try and I would appreciate any feedback as I am currently working on the next one.

Pheasant Acres GC (LIDAR) is a real course in Minnesota. Has gold tees around 4000 yards which are kids fairway tees. Then red, white and blue progressively longer traditional tees. Also 4 pin positions.

I do not doubt that there are many courses that offer different teas. My issue is I have no idea how to find it. Someone suggested when you are choosing your golfers that right underneath is a spot where you can pick which T they hit from. When I click anywhere in that area I get nothing. There is a picture of a white mouse underneath my name but that is it. To the left of my player is the type of play I want to pick which is usually stroke-play and to the right are rectangles to add players. I have tried on every possible screen to find a place to pick a tea colour to no avail. Again I am playing TGC 2019.

Is there a possibility you bought both TGC and TGC 2019. In the SDK settings under General, you may have it set for TGC instead TGC2019?

I'm sure that's exactly what my issue is...what do I do now? Sorry I'm very new to this and not sure where things went wrong.

Ok on your computer desktop there should be an Icon "Skytrak TGC Settings" Open it up and change the line on the General settings for platform.
Below is what I copied from mine. You might want to "save as" the original to another folder to be safe, before you do anything.
There are other settings you can change, but I would start with just that one.

                [General]
                High BackSpin Correction=ON
                Show Club Data=ON
                Putting Straight=on
                TGC Borderless Window=OFF
                Platform=TGC2019

I don't have that option in my TGC settings. Just chatted with skygolf and they say I bought an older version and I have to upgrade to the newer version for $795. I just got this thing a month ago. I had no idea I was buying an "older" version and I already spent a ton of money on this one. Great news.

Very sorry to hear that. If you are talking about US dollars, upgrade is $545. All is not lost, however. As other have suggested, there are many courses with shorter tees. Also, some courses have multiple versisons, each with a different tee. That is how it had to be done on the original TGC.

The older game is perfectly fine. While you cannot tee off from different starting points, there are plenty of courses of different lengths. I'd imagine that there are forum members who can point you to some of the shorter courses in the original TGC.

I guess my question is why would anyone buy the older version over the newer one?

Wow that's unfortunate. GmanJeff is right though there are many playable courses. I'm a senior and like to play courses between 5800 and 6400 yds, deplending on the layout.
Here's a link from an earlier date in the forum which might help you find something you like. The real course list from that page gives yardages and as you'll notice some designers did the same course separately, with different yardages. I played the Walker course quite a bit. Some other courses that are mostly down hill are great as well, Arcadia Bluffs was a favourite.
A lot of the really good designers have been making courses a long time, so you'll see their courses were originally on TGC.
Finally a lot of searching will get what you want lol.

Here is a list of Real Course Recreations in TGC. All the names are as they appear in the game so you should be able to use this as a search guide. I tried to list
