  • Too many non reads - new to skytrak

Hi all, I new new to skytrak, I have read lots about alignment and height etc
when I first setup the LM was on the same surface as the ball, fibre grass.
i read this wasn’t recommended so i changed so LM was direct to ground but adjusted height so it was parallel to hitting mat.
funny thing since I’ve done this i have about 1 in 10 non reads!
    any ideas ??

    thanks,

Is there a pattern to no-reads. For example, more wedges, or more woods, or totally random.

      1) make sure ST is seated in full metal jacket correctly. Sometimes if laser is obstructed just a bit, mis reads can occur.
      2) ST does not read ball well if wall behind the person hitting is light in color (white or beige), apparently it needs contrast (white ball against dark background)
      3) ST does not read yellow balls well and if using white, turn logo towards ST
      good luck

I've almost exclusively used yellow balls with no issues, Titleist Tour Soft, Pro V1 and Srixon Q Star.

Interesting...perhaps my issue with yellow is my background color on the wall behind me, not providing enough contrast

Yellow definitely won't help, but it may still work. The IR sensors don't see color, so the only factor is how well it reflects IR illumination. White is obviously best. Some yellow balls are clearly acceptable as users report that they work.

As for background color, dark is obviously better, but most walls are 8+ feet from the ST, so shouldn't be a huge issue unless very reflective paint and angled perfectly perpendicular to sensor. But it is possible, so could be worth hanging a bed sheet or something to confirm.

I do think reflective objects are an issue as they likely create blooms that confuse the image engine.

        Thanks all
i put the skytrak case back on feet and played around with position
also noticed a slight bit of white in background, covered that up and its seems much better
