How to correct the swing data

    Hi,

I am aware that skytrak does not actually read the stick speed data but extrapolates these results accordingly on the flight of the ball. evidently these are not precise,
are there calculations that can be done to add them and make them more truthful and reliable?

attached the pdf with a test made between my old pw vs my new pw.

All correct if it were not the iron swing speeds.

Foot spray club face. If center contact, these numbers are close. If not, disregard. There is simply no way knowing whether spin axis comes from path/face differential or off center strike. I suppose that if we had measured club head speed, it is possible to use the smash to determine quality of contact, and work from there to take a guess at impact location, but probably still not close to being accurate enough for actionable feedback.

      Hi

Have you seen the file that I inserted in my previous post? PTI 1.52 on average but with very low iron speed in my opinion.

      Bye

Sorry I thought you were talking about the club head data that was included in an earlier version. of skytrak software.

The easiest thing is to ignore the PTI and just divide ball speed by assumed smash based on club, much as GC2 does. The ST tries to do better but it clearly results in inaccurate readings as your data shows. The LPGA smash for PW is 1.23. Only valid for your best strikes, so the foot spray advice is valid here too.

Obviously the PTI in your data is garbage. But look at your spin for the second set. It spun like a driver, so the PTI treated it like one, and applied driver smash. A pitching wedge at your ball speed typically spins over 9000. Take 1,000 off for hitting off a mat, 8,000. You are missing well over half the spin. You can't expect reasonably clubhead speed estimates with such anomalies.

If you want to compare clubs look at the ball data, all the info you need is there. If the clubs are the same length, and you are swinging normally, I don't think there is more than a few mph difference between any swing ... with any pitching wedge.

          Hi,

these data were on 2 different pw the first is a pw burner 2.0 and the second a pw M6 both taylormade.

          Bye

I know that. Don't know what else to tell you. Something very bad is happening in second set as spin is about 30% of what it should be. Your swing speed for either club is presumably very similar. The contact clearly is not.

I place a PRGR monitor behind my swing path any disregard the numbers on the SkyTrak. The PRGR cost about $200 and it seems to be very accurate.

                Morini,

is the type of iron that works wonders, I tried it on the field so this new one really does what it has to do,

the problem remains only with the speed of the irons and sticks that are not realistic ..

It is not realistic because it uses ball speed and divides by an assumed smash (PTI). Skytrak tries to be clever, and the low spin in your shots causes it to think you are hitting driver, so it applies PTI of 1.50. I don't think this can be improved upon other than increasing your spin, but if you are happy with real world results, why bother. As mentioned, there probably is no actual club head speed difference if the two wedges are of same length and similar weight. Enjoy your new clubs!

Ball speed is all that matters. Swing speed means quite literally nothing.
