Is SkyTrak's Dynamic Handicap Accurate?

That's a great article but pretty old - we actually did adjust the algorithm quite a bit using those charts to get the ball rolling on the tweaks.

Great to hear. I haven't tried one since. I know that on the course, PGA tour pros average about 5% error on approaches and scratch about 7%. It is quite linear, with about .33 percent per stroke differential. But that is with imperfect lies, wind, short sided situations, bad bounces, and also the fact that the hole is not always the target. If I were to guess, I'd say a pro would average 3.5% carry error under indoor sim conditions.

Nice video! Those were some killer approach shots, definitely not those of a 10+ handicap. How's your putting?Originally posted by Mitchynew View PostSkyTrak Golf Simulator boasts a "Dynamic Handicap" but how does it compare to an official CONGU handicap and also the PGA Tour Pros?

I like to use it pretty much every time i use the skytrak to practice, however i dont keep a record of what I scored and when. Maybe this is something SkyTrak could add to the skills assessment feature? A history of practice or something like that. Not sure if it already has this sort of feature? If it does, i dont know about it!

Honestly, even if the formula was wildly off from real world handicaps, it still serves as a reliable benchmark to track improvement. But I think it is pretty darn close now if you hit enough shots with each club, don't cherry pick only the best shots, and don't base it off your best round ever in real lifeOriginally posted by Toolish View PostDoes anyone use the Dynamic Handicap to track improvement over time?
