  • Monitor Required?

    Hey Guys,

I am currently building my sim room. I just painted the entire room black, put some flooring down and I am in the process of setting up my enclosure and screen. I am planning on buying a dedicated computer (tower not a laptop) just for my SkyTrak/TGC 2019 and I am curious as to whether or not anyone sees a reason to buy a separate monitor for the computer. I plan just to use my screen as the sole monitor. Does anyone see a problem with that?

That's what I do. No monitor. Image on the impact screen is my "monitor." Really no issues with it at all.

If you are doing something that involves lengthy mouse and keyboard input, such as setting up your profile, then it is easier to do with monitor (you don't have to look up as often), but once it is set-up, little reason to have a separate monitor. You could always do a remote desktop session if you have lots of configuring to do.

Depending on the software you're using, you may have some dual screen capabilities which could make the second screen helpful. Instead of a monitor, a smaller TV is a great and cheaper alternative.

Thanks for the different opinions / perspectives. I will move one of my TVs into my simulator room temporarily for the initial setup phase. Now I just need to buy my computer and then wait for my SkyTrak to be delivered.

You can always add one later. I actually bought a touchscreen for the convenience factor. I actually like it and makes it so easy. I hate trying to use the mouse on the screen.
