I have been enjoying playing TGC with my Skytrak. I got the Ryzen 7 4800H laptop with AMD Radeon RX 5500M graphics card. At first it seemed to run awesome. Ultra settings running at 60 FPS. But now frame rates are between 30-60 playing the same course. I think it might be due to the laptop overheating? Does anyone know about this laptop? It was not cheap but I really want one that performs without dropping below 60 FPS. Any advice is welcome!

When you say "at first it was 60FPS"... do you mean every time you start playing? Or like... you thought the first time you launched it that it was 60 FPS but ever since then you can't seem to get back? Overheating in laptops can definitely cause things to downclock and impact performance.. but if you're saying the latter, that points to something else.
Your hardware isn't awful, I would think you could find some combination of settings/resolution to give you what you want. Just maybe not Ultra.

Sorry. So what I mean is that when I start the lap top up and run the game, everything is basically a solid 60FPS on very high settings, almost everything maxed out. As time goes on (maybe 30 mins to 1hr of playing) things are starting to stutter. FPS more in the 40s. It's not horrible but annoying. Even when I lower the settings I don't see a solid 60FPS anymore.

The minimum recommended GPU is the GTX 1060, which is about 30-50% faster than your GPU. Plus laptops don't cool as well as towers. Yours is probably heating up and slowing down. You might try one of the many fan-cooled laptop stands available on Amazon.

Gotcha. Yeah it sounds like a downclocking issue then due to heat. Your hardware is fine.Originally posted by mpaul73 View PostSorry.
