  • SkyTrak - Fails to read a shot

Does anyone else have a problem with the SkyTrak failing to read a shot? It is usually fine for about an hour or two, then once in a while it doesn't read a shot (does not give the error message that it could not read). Then it reads a few shots, then misses one, and keeps going. I've tried moving the ball position on the laser dot, using a small fan behind the launch device, turn off/on the launch device, etc.
I'm using E6 Connect software, but it happens in the SkyTrak software also. Any thoughts?

If the RH IR laser curtain if failing, it will result in a high % of no-reads, where all lights stay green after your shot and the red laser dot never disappears. If that's happening on in RH mode only, that's almost certainly what is wrong, although it's very rare for it to happen in a 2 month old unit. If that's the case, SkyTrak will need to fix it, unless you're brave and open up the unit to switch the LH and RH laser bulbs (don't recommend in a unit under warranty).
Indeed it basically will not read on the red dot at all now. If I'm about 4" closer to the unit it's hit & miss, either power is low or way out of alignment. LH mode plays as it should They finally agreed for to send back today so off it goes. As you say, being under warranty I'm not going to mess with it. Sadly I lose the unit now for a while. Hey Ho

End note, the unit came back today. Note did indeed say the RH Curtain was replaced. Hopefully I'll get time on it tomorrow. Looking forward....

I thought they had the laser curtain issue licked. But it sounds like it is still happening with newer units. Hopefully not as often as in the past.

Well, sometimes just unlucky :-) It seems more responsive than it was when I received it. Did some practice this afternoon, very few misreads. Fingers crossed.

I have been driving myself crazy with ST dropped shots. I’ve read everything I could find regarding dropped shots. After a Thousand different ideas, I took the ST out of the metal protective cage and viola, no more dropped shots. I have no logical explanation but I was 100 for 100 this afternoon.

As a follow up, to my 2-28-2021 comment, it wasn’t just the metal cage but there were many line of site barriers between the ST and the computer. There was a wall and a table that I would sit at when other people were hitting plus the cage were all blocking line of site between the ST and the computer. We removed the cage and everything worked but we could have also moved the computer

That sounds like static to me. We see a spike in the colder/drier winter months with units in the metal case. Unfortunately golf mats are a super-high static environment, so trying to figure out a solution to work around that.

SkyTrak_Seth Since this morning my unit does not read a single shot. I have it since end of 2015 with no trouble (only few misread) but today it’s totally stuck. Lights are green but after a shot the red dot remain here. Everything is leveled and aligned (as usual). I tried on left handed but does not work better. Can You help please?

Did GIP expire? Have you tried hard reset. Different connection method? Different device?
