  • USB connection stopped working

i have had it since july connected using USB and had no issues. On Friday the unit started flashing the laser. Someone recommended it was due to static electricity & to put electrical tape on end of USB cable.
So the tape did stop it from flashing the laser, but now it will not read any shots.

If I connect the unit to an iPad using direct mode, it will work.

The PC I use to TGC2019 & SkyTrak does not have a wireless connection, it uses ethernet for its connection.

So should I just give up on the USB connection & purchase a wireless card & then connect using direct mode or does someone have another solution?

Sounds like a bad USB cable. Switch out both the Micro-USB to USB cable that came with the SkyTrak, and the USB extension cable (if you're using one). If your extension cable is longer than 15 feet, you may also need a powered USB hub (like the Anker hubs on Amazon).

Ron I replaced the powered USB cable with a new one. I will swap out the one that plugs into skytrak as well & give it a shot

If the PC is connected via ethernet, get a USB Wifi adapter to connect the SkyTrak to it in Direct Mode. The USB wifi adapters are very inexpensive and it will give a solid connection.

Yes I added a wireless card to the PC & it worked great last night. I thought the motherboard had wireless on-board, but it did not. When I built this PC, parts were sold out or taking weeks to get so I got the one that was in stock without checking what was on it.

Sure is a sensitive device if a small increase in static causes that issue!!
