    Wifi to router stopped working

After many months of no issues, my skytrak will no longer connect to my router via wifi. I'm able to connect my computer via wifi directly to the skytrak, so it seems the wifi chip is fine. If, once connected, I try to put it in network mode, my router appears in the list, I can select it and enter the password, the middle light blinks red for a few seconds, then yellow for many seconds (5-10), and then goes to solid red indicating it wasn't able to connect.

    Any ideas?

You could try to bring it closer to router to ensure it is not a signal strength issue. Connection strength can vary for a number of reasons. I assume that there wasn't a password change of some type.

Make sure your WIFI router hasn't enabled AP isolation. The AP Isolation is a feature of wireless routers that enables you to create a separate virtual network for each wireless client that is connected to a network name or SSID. When this feature is enabled, all wireless devices in the network will not be able to communicate with each other.

        The strangeness continues...

I moved the skytrak near a second router that I have setup (no mesh network, but I have two separate routers), and it connected fine to that router. I then moved skytrak right next to my original router (within 5'), and it didn't see that network at all. However, I manually entered the network, and skytrak connected fine.

I then turned off skytrak and moved it back to the original location, on my mat. I turned it back on, but it didn't connect to my desired network. I searched for networks, it saw the network I wanted, but it wouldn't connect. I turned it off and walked half-way back to the router. I turned on skytrak. It didn't see my desired network, but I was able to connect to it manually. I kept my skytrak on, carried it back to the original location, and it was able to maintain the connection without problem.

I then turned off skytrak, waited a few seconds, and turned it back on. It would not connect to my desired network.

My hitting location is about 25' from the router, so this shouldn't be a distance issue. My cell phone and my computer both show a strong signal (4 out of 5 bars) at the location.

Something has definitely changed, and I'm not sure what. Everything worked fine for 15+ months. No password change. No router change on my end. No new neighbors, although maybe a neighbor got a new router and I'm seeing some sort of interference?

Did you try resetting the SkyTrak? That will clear the network data and then you can reconnect to the network you want to use. I wouldn't connect to multiple routers, just the one you intend to use so it does not look for both.

I think Skytrak needs a stronger wifi signal than phones or tablets. It says somewhere in the getting-started manual or some other Skytrak doc that it needs a strong wifi signal.

I've been using USB connection for the last 10 months or so, but before then, when I was trying to play WGT, I had to use network mode because I needed the iPad to run WGT, and I had to bring/install a wired Access Point about 6 ft from the Skytrak for it to work; otherwise I would get disconnections all the time; the iPad would show plenty of wifi strength, but the Skytrak kept disconnecting/reconnecting, even though the wifi router was about 25 ft away across a single non-insulated interior wall.

Yeah, I get all of this and appreciate the help everyone is trying to provide. The real issue is - everything worked fine for many months (about 18 months) and then it just stopped working, with no changes that I know about. So, it must be either (1) something has gone wrong with my skytrak wifi, (2) something has gone wrong with my router (although other devices connecting to the same router are not having a similar issue), or (3) there is a new source of wifi interference that is affecting only the skytrak wifi connection. Yesterday, I got tired of troubleshooting so I just hooked up via a USB direct connection. The computer that I use for simulation is further from the router than the skytrak and it still connects without issue.

I am having the same issue with other complications. All of a sudden during a round yesterday my laser light started turning on and off (disconnecting/reconnecting from my e6 IOS app) in network mode. It had worked great until yesterday. I shut down e6 connect and tried my SkyTrak Game Improvement Plan and the same issue persisted. I did an online chat with SkyTrak and they asked me to reset the unit and delete and reinstall my SkyTrak app on the iPad. I did that and then I ran into the issues you discussed. No matter what I do, I can no longer get my SkyTrak to connect to the network. I am going to call SkyTrak support on Monday.

At any rate, I was able to set up a Direct connect this morning. I was able to hit 22 shots without issue and then the disconnect/reconnect issue to the app restarted. it blinks on and off fast enough that it is nearly impossible to have my shots tracked.

                Any thoughts?

Was your issue resolved with the network connection issue? If so, how did you fix it?

                Thanks!

It sounds as if the Skytrak wifi module is having issues. If you have an old laptop lying around, try out USB. If that works, fine, and the problem persists, you will likely have to send yours in.

I'm still having the issue. It's frustrating, but I have temporarily switched to USB mode. I have not contacted tech support - I should.

As per my comment above, likely the Skytrak wifi module. I can't remember if you mentioned trying direct mode. If that works, router issue. It it doesn't, wifi module.
              Working...
