  • Weirdest No Read Problem ever!

I’ve had my skytrak over a year now and have had all kinds of no reads but I’ve never saw or have read about this problem. My buddy bought a complete sim kit from rain or shine 9x12 screen enclosure, full fiberbuilt mat, projector and skytrak. I helped him set it up, aligned and leveled the skytrak worked perfect for 2 weeks. He had people over several times to play no problems. 2 days ago he calls me and says he is having 6-10 no reads in a row and can’t figure out why. I stopped by yesterday and we started playing. After about 6 holes it started with him not reading his hybrid I noticed when he takes club back at the top of his swing the laser dot goes out. Comes back on 2 seconds later. It did this like 6 times and finally he was able to hit and get a read. Next hole I tee off no problem he gets up takes his back swing laser shuts off. I take his driver take a back swing laser stays on I tried it a dozen times never goes out. he steps up first back swing it goes out. He tries different clubs same thing goes out I try several clubs never goes out. This ONLY happens with him no one else! We experimented 2 hours with everything we tried, turning lights off completely till it was almost pitch black, turned more lighting on, more direct lighting on hitting area, checked level of skytrak, raised skytrak up lowed it, I even made him take his sneakers off and put another pair on cause they were white. I am stumped I told him I think his skytrak just hates him!

I had this happen to me years ago. I had a couple of guys over. The three of us were playing and the Skytrak was reading 2 of us fine but would randomly read 2 or 3 out of 10 on the 3 guy.
Couldn't figure it out at first. He was a lefty and behind him was the garage door which was white. As righty's we were fine being opposite to to him. Put some cardboard against the door and things were fine after that.

This happened to me when I first got my SkyTrak. It ended up being electrical interference. At the time, I was running in USB mode plugged directly into a desktop PC. If I plugged less things into the power strip the PC was using, the intermittent sensor drop went away. There is an older thread on this forum that helped me troubleshoot.

Most likely thing is that he somehow triggers the laser curtain. Make sure there is no waggle. Or any other motion that crosses the laser curtain.

His shoes were a green color i made him take them off also removed his socks to they were white. He put on pair of black shoes on and laser still went out. There is a white garage door about 15 feet behind him. He had some extra black bed sheets that he uses to hang behind screen we used them to cover the door. Laser still goes out. I told him to try and move his led lights above tee more to the right to shine at a angle at ball and him. Try to get rid of shadows. I also noticed he has a USB extension cord on his skytrak I told him to get a 10ft data usb from amazon. But still don't understand why I can get up on tee and swing a dozen times and works perfectly? He is a little shorter and a little more husky then me but dout that has anything to do with it? (Or does it? )

Does he have any sort of waggle? This caused it for one of my friends.

I haven't noticed if he has a waggle? I will have to watch closer next time.

This could be it. It will false trigger on the clubhead, recognize there was no shot, then re-arm at which point the player probably already hit. I would tell him to just place the club down directly behind the ball and take a swing and see if that changes anything.

I had this exact issue and what worked for me was unplugging the USB cord. After countless calls with SkyTrak, a few emails, and I even sent them a video, they kept telling me the lighting or the mat. I wish I would have known this before I bought several different mats and lights!

I had a very similar problem last night for the first time.

Had my brother in law over to play. I usually get 1-2 misreads in an 18 hole round. He was taking 3-4 times per shot to get a read. We're both right handed. He can shoot in the 70's IRL. He has no waggle, was wearing black shoes with no reflective surface, and I was putting the ball down in the position with a logo facing the sensor.

After resetting the devices, moving things, changing the lighting... we finally figured out it was Mizuno MP-33's. When he used my Miura's there were no issues and he had the same misread rate as I did.

                Bizarre, but also not good.

I think we got my buddies setup working good now. we change the lighting above the skytrak put it at an angle shining at him from behind skytrak, got him a ten foot USB cable and grounded the protective case for the skytrak. he has played 3-4 times since we did all this and has had only 3-4 misreads a round.
