  • $2000 Budget for Sim Setup. Help me out!

I have had Skytrak for 2 years. Up till now been hitting into a new and seeing results on bit screen tv. Now I am going to purchase a screen and projector. Lots of options out there. For a budget of $2000 what should I be looking at? Thank you in advance!

If TGC2019, it will eat up almost half. That leaves $1,000 for screen, PC, enclosure and projector. If you can repurpose existing PC, doable, depending on size. If you go E6 with ipad, and ignore annual renewal costs, easily doable.

If you luck out, you can find 8 x 10 par2pro imperfect in the $150 range (plus shipping). A used projector on Ebay about the same.

Check out Supertex screens. Good quality and low price. I got a 9x9 for $130. They sell on eBay.

Maybe just go with a used lower resolution projector that you can get for less than $200. My first projector was a used 1024x768 resolution that I got off eBay for around $150 or so. I actually still have it if you're interested.

An enclosure is not real expensive to build using the EMT pipe at Lowe's and Home Depot. I think you can do it for less than $100 including the insulation if I recall correctly.

If you did the above items (screen, enclosure and projector) for maybe $400 total, and TGC2019 is $900, you're looking at around $700 to spend on a computer. That's doable. Check out used and refurbished gaming PCs for sale online on eBay and some other sites. You can make it happen.

Another option is to just continue to hit into the net and use the TV for TGC. That way you would have more money to buy a better computer and can gradually save up for the projector and screen later down the road.

Projector is highly dependent on screen dimensions and ceiling height, so it's impossible to give any recommendations without knowing those.

Carl's is popular for screens and enclosures. = https://www.carlofet.com/shop/golf-s...-impact-screen

$2k Budget if all you need is enclosure and screen: $7-800 Carl's DIY (biggest that fits your space) $8-900 BenQ TH671st or Optoma 1080HDR (Which ever fits your space better. Optoma is shorter throw). $3-400 for mats/carpet/curtains/EMT poles to finish out your build

First you need to examine and measure the space you plan on using, then think about add ons that may come later. Be sure to leave plenty of space for clubs, seating, and heating or cooling devices, etc. Make sure your ceiling is high enough not only for your longest club and taller friends, but also that your projector and above netting do not get in the way of your longest club and taller friends with their longest club. Once you’ve figured that out, pick the largest and best screen that will fit, then get a projector that fills that screen. Keep in mind the aspect ratio you will need to fit your screen. Decide if you want a short or long throw based off all the above criteria. Just remember this-a short throw projector may be in the range of the end of a club unless it ultra short throw (depends on distance from hitting area to screen), and a long throw projector may cast your shadow on the screen. There are many capable projectors on the market. Short and ultra short projectors usually cost quite a bit more, but usually produce more lumens and better picture quality. I use a Viewsonic short throw for golf simulation, and a Vankyo long throw for watching movies and sporting events. The Viewsonic has a better picture in my opinion, but the Vankyo is pretty good too. As far as screens, to each his own. Remember you will need roughly a foot of space behind your screen for extra security. For that reason alone, I use billboard material for my screen as all I had was 5.5” to work with, and I put my old billboard screen behind my new one for even more security. Good luck on your build, and please post pics of your progress!

PeakTarps ........ DIY......... Perfect for sides and top and they often produce a top baffle with valence's. They will work with you after your order to make sure it all comes out right. They can sew /add to a piece and attach velcrow where you want it. If I had a clue what I was doing I would have maybe had a bit more custom velcrow and whatnots added. I was so worried about my valience in the roof piece that I neglected the rest of the order. I would say they still nailed it though ! Very high quality my 3 pieces velcrow masterfully and my added valience is $
