Hi there!
So I am somewhat new to golf. Never really had a chance to really play constantly and always dreamt of a simulator but never had the money nor the space. We have recently moved to a new apartment. Ceilings are very low, not possible in there
but finally have an option to at least start towards the dream and that is a big shared garden, which is not really used by the rest of the building (4 other apartments). So I bought a Skytrak, was hard to find here and def more expensive than in the US. (paid 2.400 euros) and bought a metal case from Ebay, which seems to be identical to the original but cheaper for 90 euros (https://www.ebay.de/itm/Skytrak-Golf...l/384055831657) and this net for 300 euros (https://www.networldsports.de/golf/g...lex-golfkaefig). For the hitting mat, it was difficult. I could not really find many options as when I researched compared to the US so I went with this one: https://www.all4golf.de/golf-zubehoe...ro-tee-4466004 100 x 150 cm , 300 euros. I bought the tiny version first to see it seems fine. the bigger mat should be delivered this week. video from the matt here:
My issues are, the garden has direct sunlight until 2pm. Looking at ways as to how to use it at those times, later during the day there is no more direct sunlight, grass / garden is under the shade. My worries are that the ground is not very even, so hoping that the bigger mat will help with more stability, but otherwise I plan to maybe it attach to a thin layer of wood.
The other spot to maybe use this is on the side of the building, but not sure about it. It is 3 m wide and very long but not sure if the 3m are enough to not start affecting the way I swing the club. If I stand more to the right, it should not be a problem but then it feels I am very close to the right side of the wall and a bad swing could smash of the wall easily which worries and not sure how to mitigate it
Looking for advise on how to either improve the usage in the garden and or the in the side of the building. For example, ideas on how to protect it from the sun without affecting the device? for the garden setup, how to level the device (skytrak)? is it more important that the device is at the same height of the mat or that the app shows 0 degrees for roll and tilt? Does any one have any suggestions on how I could quickly put the device down and be aligned quickly? One of my worries is not to be certain that the device is aligned and that I am not sure if what I am seeing is correct
.This is important as I will have to take the net and everything down after every usage.
I have added some pictures and videos of what I have. Like said, I have not really played or used it properly yet. The video was just to see if the device was reading and if I felt safe hitting into the net and where to maybe put it.
Here is the setup in the garden (VIDEO), my first shot:
I would like to buy simulator software, but I am not sure if I will just yet. It is too expensive for me right now, not sure if I cant afford
