I’ve been a historical user of SkyTrak for many years and used to post on here often (hello to some of you all that i used to talk to!). Lately I’ve started to see some very wonky spin and flight numbers. This is 7 iron data on a couple of swings with 2 “normal” and 2 other readings of WTF is going on with spin numbers. I seem to be getting weird data now on about 40% of my numbers these days. I’m a fairly high level golfer and know my data very well. Is anyone else experience strange readings lately?
SkyTrak very wonky spin numbers, pics included - seem be highly inaccurate now?

Spin numbers are religiously between 6400-677 for 7 iron. About 3-4 readings out of 10 I’m getting crazy low spin numbers and 1-2 times out of 10 I’m getting giant cut ball flight numbers that go 200 yards - I can’t hit a cut like that with a gun pointed to my head.

Ok - I think I have found the culprit...maybe. I bought new overhead lighting for the 3rd bay of my garage where my SkyTrak is and it is WAY brighter in that bay now. Seems to be about the time my ST started giving me some weird ball flight information. Has anyone has experience having too much light and getting low spin numbers?
Actually....it's not the lighting. Looks like anytime I get over 128mph with a 7 iron, the machine goes haywire.Last edited by SomaPLR; 04-12-2021, 04:18 PM.

Linking my thread here in case anyone finds yours, as it's clear we have the same issue.
Let me start by saying I have a lot of fun with the SkyTrak - using it daily since Christmas. I enjoy playing with family or the kids. However, I having a hard time believing it can be functional for competitive play. I know about GungHoGolf's tips. The unit is 0 degrees level in both axes. It is on a flat surface off the
We have almost identical ball flight too.

You guys are clearly onto something. It is that twilight zone around 130 mph where spin halves or quarters for 6 & 7 iron. I would love to hear the Skytrak's official comment on this. SomePLR, watch the TXG skytrak review. It will look familiar.
It is also interesting that this seems to have come out of nowhere. I am wondering if the update that brought high ball speed fix created this problem. Hankydysplasia and SomaPLR, you should try to roll back to a version of skytrak range before the high ball speed fix. It won't help with TGC2019, but it could confirm the issue and cause.

My theory is that it is the horizontal speed vector that matters. About 124 mph. Were the 130 mph that read a different launch angle? The first shot that read in your 04:56 PM post was 121. The wonky 6 iron was 126.It’s still hit or miss still above 130mph ball speeds with a 7 iron. This is actually the first time I’ve had it read 130mph ball speeds correctly on a couple of swings. Still about only a 50% accuracy ratio once you get 130mph
