FMJ Effecting Ready Light

Hello GSF,

Been lurking for a few months and finally received my Skytrak unit on Friday. Friday night I had my unit sitting in the FMJ case but not screwed in and the unit was working great.

Saturday morning I went for more punishment on the virtual links and my ready light was consistently going red to green. I spent a few hours changing the setup of the case, screwing in the Skytrak unit, leveling it, tilting it, moving the ball location forward, back, side to side and the unit would not stop going back and forth in the red/green ready.

The only way I could get my unit to stay green ready was not using the case, which is a no go for me.

My setup is in the garage, which has no windows. I’m on a fiberbuilt mat.

My assumption is that the case is reflecting light and messing with the system. Has anybody dealt with this before? I plan to try masking tape to see if that stops the reflecting but I’m not sure that is the issue.

Thoughts?

Are you connecting USB? Sounds like static. I think it gets worse when in case. If so, try direct connection to confirm static as cause. I doubt it is reflected light.

Yes I am directly connected. I just tried again, the Skytrak works fine without the case.

in the case the ready light won’t stay green. There have been a few times it has stayed green but it doesn’t register any shots.

Static only happens when USB connected, so likely not static.

If it was working fine in the case but not screwed in, maybe just go with that? It's not uncommon for people to report issues with the case. Curiously, it seems to be more of a problem with the real skytrak case than with the ebay knockoff version.

Really poor word choice on my part.
I meant to say this occurs any way I’m connected to the Skytrak, but I’ve been using USB mode.

The first night of having the Skytrak, it worked fine in the case, but now I cannot get it to work inside the case, screwed in or not screwed in.

I just put a large humidifier in the garage and will try to dampen the room a bit. Are there other suggestions to help reduce the static?

If you are connected USB, try direct mode (direct wifi). If the problem goes away you have confirmed static as the cause. Then you can try the various remedies suggested. Honestly, direct mode works best, so if you are using ST range only, stick to that.

Update

The Skytrak worked fine in the case in direct mode. I unplugged my laptop and shut it off, restarted and everything works fine now in USB mode.
