    Skytrak connection issue

I just got my skytrak, and have tried to connect to my pc in direct mode, and it won't seem to connect. I've connected to my pc in usb mode. and I've connected the skytrak to my phone in direct mode with no issues. I have uninstalled my vpn software, turned off my firewall on my computer and still it won't connect. I've talked to skytrak about a thousand times and still nothing. Anybody please help with this issue.

If you have any anti-virus software installed. I’d try uninstalling that also.

      HI

Have you cleared the skytrak cache on your PC, if not, just search "Skytrak Clear Cache" for instructions how to do it on this forum.

That should sort it out for you.

      Good luck

Thx I've tried all of that still no go. I see my laptop is running a 1.6 GHz could that be why it wont connect in direct mode? But it still works in usb mode with no problems. Does that make any sense?

Does the skytrak show up in your list of wifi networks on the computer and let you connect to it? Also, in the skytrak app, does it say "not connected" or does it say it is looking for a connection and keep searching?

Ah, ok. It does sound like something is just blocking the computer and skytrak from communicating. I don't know what else it would be other that what has already been suggested (VPN, anti virus, etc), unfortunately.

I know kind of strange, the only other thing I can think of is my laptop is running at 1.6GHz apparently. I tried it on my sons and his is 2.1GHz and it seemed to connect. But then I wonder why it would work in usb mode then if that was the case.

CPU has no bearing. Something else.

If you are running the latest software version 4, downgrade to the latest 3.xx version. I always connect in direct mode, but the latest update seemed to mess it up. I downgraded and it was fine. Worth a try, to try and get you going at least.

I have tried that as well, and still no go. like I said I have no issue getting it working with usb mode. Don't really understand why it won't go in direct though.

For me it was the other way around . Worked always fine in USB mode , after upgrade to 4.02 software I had major problems (but did not think the connection was the issue) . After downgrading back to 3.4.2 software still not working OK. only than I changed USB to direct mode and no issues anymore . Very strange indeed

So how do I actually downgrade the software? Where can I download the older versions?

Does your password have a special character? Mine did and that jacked it up.

I believe it does but I can't even get to that point, where I have to input the password. I tried it on my sons laptop and it was giving me problems then finally it worked and the password even worked with the special character. This seems to be the biggest frustration in my opinion with skytrak, everyone seems to have different issues with connecting nothing seems to be the same.

Could you clarify, are you seeing the skytrak in your list of available wifi networks? and if so when you try to connect the wifi to the skytrak does it show connected on the computer's wifi status? is it just that the application is not connecting? or is it the computer not connecting. Whenever I've had a problem connecting in Direct mode it was resolved by resetting the skytrak. it may want to try reseting. its the button in the very small hole on the bottom. you will see 3 amber lights when its reset. use a needle or very small paperclip. the only time i had problems connecting in direct mode it was in network mode and had to be reset.

Yes, I can see the Skytrak in my list, and it will say connected in the WIFI list when it is, but that's where it stops. I have reset the skytrak numerous times to no avail.
            Working...
