Hi All,

We've been working to meet some outstanding (in both senses of the word) customer requests and Spin Decay was high on that list. We have added Spin Decay to our flight model and took care of several of bugs that have been reported over the last few months. This is mostly a maintenance release, but as always, we hope you enjoy!

I’m excited to try this update with spin decay. It’s something that has been bugging me with my skytrak purchase. Will be out of town playing real golf this next week but will update when I get back.

Yes, frustrating when shaping shots in Skytrak range for sure. I spend most of my time in TGC2019 for that reason. This means that I may move practice back to ST range.

I found an error in the update. If you change the spin axis and side spin display after the shot, different data will be displayed when the side spin is displayed. See Annex

Interesting. I'm not quite sure what is going on, but it seems like the data is not toggling back after the first change. I'll look into it, but in the meantime see if it has the same effect if you use the selector in the settings menu vs tapping the Side Spin/Spin Axis dial. We will take care of whatever it is in a quick follow up release.

Where do you get the data boxes at the top to show? Hits, Misses, Height, Decent? I don't have that.

Great update. I definitely noticed less curviture on my shots especially my drives. I hit a little draw on real life but on skytrak range it always felt a little more. I can confirm it's much more tidy now. Hopefully this transfers to e6 soon!!!

I also noticed the ball looks bigger as it's flying through the air. Is this new or has my camera just changed after the update?

This will only affect shots in the SkyTrak app. TGC users their own flight model.

Off topic for this thread but ...it is about time, isn't it. Skytrak has built a solid brand over the 7 years, but without a hardware refresh, will be outcompeted soon, so it would make a lot of sense to keep brand alive. No in-house design team as far as I know. So another partnership with Rapsodo would make sense. But the patents I have seen to date, look more like MLM successor than Skytrak successor.

At minimum, there is room for a simple refresh, sticking with timed strobe technology. It plain works, and with more and better cameras, more images captured, more powerful strobe and faster processing it could overcome most of the current gen shortcomings while keeping price about the same. This would make a lot of sense. It would almost eliminate no-reads, and get rid of the worst misreads. It would be so close to GC3/quad in accuracy that the difference wouldn't matter to most. The delay would be gone.Or they could go the other more expensive route, and go with high speed video.

Or given Batuhan Okur and his Raposod design teams history of figuring out clever low cost solutions, maybe something else altogether. Using AI and cheap sensors in some novel way to work out spin for example.

Or maybe they ditch Rapsodo for another design team.

Or maybe no new Skytrak.

Sample from a recent Rapsodo patent:

"In some embodiments, a smaller subset of the available pixels in the pixel array may be used to allow for the camera 120 to operate at a higher frame rate; for example, if the moving object is known or estimated to be located in a certain quadrant, region, or space of the pixel array, only that quadrant, region, or space may be used in capturing the image allowing for a faster refresh rate to capture another image. Using less than the entire pixel array may allow for the use of less-expensive cameras while still enjoying a higher effective frame rate."

Sounds like the radar will estimate location of the ball, and the imager will capture only the area where the ball is, allowing for high frame rate with a cheaper sensor. This is the Rapsodo MO. Get more from less. And I am thankful, as it gave golfers accurate LM for $2K far before its time. A break through. Let's hope for another one.

It is uploaded in the Google Play store now, but I want the team to give it a quick test in the morning to make sure all is good before releasing. I anticipate a release for Android tomorrow.

Just spent an hour with the update. It’s excellent. Can attest that it now is closer to my shot shape, and the draws dont just float left continuously.
Especially noticeable around 400-700 rpm side spin, it didn’t move 40 yards like a boomerang. Good thing was you can still move it waaay left if you try.
Well done, this was my current biggest issue and I’d say it’s closer than ever to my real life ball flight.
