Mevo Plus puts heat on skytrak

    HI Everyone

I see Garmin has just released an update for the R10 with a tilt axis calibration setting, and flightscope have really just turned the heat up on the competition with their pro package.

So the first thing skytrak can do is DUMP the 100 bucks a year to access your own 3rd party software.

I dont mind skytrak charging to use their range software, but charging to access 3rd party software is NOT acceptable anymore, they got a good 5 years out of it and that's enough in my view.

Second, skytrak needs to release the club data add-on asap.

all I can say is well done and thank you flightscope, 3k for so much and no subscriptions.

I agree. I am a newbie (1st post actually), but have been researching and reading this forum for the past couple of months or so. Skytrak has been on top of my list, until the past week or two. Seems like the MEVO + might have the upper hand for the money at this point. Especially, for someone looking for their first ball launch monitor and does not own anything else. Just my 2 cents.

I've loved being able to bring my launch monitor with me to the range with radar based units. I don't have an indoor sim setup at home but have used it at my in-law's place without any issues for both flighscope mevo's I've had. Outdoors the plus especially has been nearly flawless.

They'll potentially have issues indoors depending on your setup but if space or the environment doesn't have any issues it's quite nice never being able to hit them, and being able to go seamlessly between righty and lefty hitters.

No subscription costs is also a big bonus for me. I'd way rather shell out once than pay much more over the long haul personally. I understand the hustle, but I still don't like it.

Subscription requirement was one of key reasons I didn't get the Skytrak also. Especially the fact that the 3rd party software integrations won't work without paying Skytrak every year really didn't bode well for me.

What Flightscope has announced is absolutely huge and a market distrupter for this price segment as it literally has no competition below $14k (or $10k if you count the non-portable EyeXO) for that much measured club data. No tickers needed. Foresight might have to consider including more club data in the GC3 for $7k now. Competition is great for us consumers.

I could be wrong, but I don't think R10 will ever have accuracy to please the real sim or game improvement crowd.

Skytrak will lower price before they drop the $100.

I do think the restrictions are a huge negative, but I don't think new buyers are that informed, so I don't think it will affect sales.

The Mevo+ Pro package is HUGE. In fact, I'd happily trade my Skytrak for a Mevo+ and throw $1,000 at them to get it. Assuming club data is accurate enough to be actionable, and I have no doubt it is as Flightscope would have no reason to put their reputation on the line.

I agree that R10 isn't enough to complete with Mevo+ of course or Skytrack even. But it does seem to be accurate for what it does measure which is club head speed, ball speed, launch direction, and launch angle. Rest are a bit hit & miss. If Garmin somehow enables measuring ball spin, then it could get interesting.

As for Mevo+ Pro package club data accuracy, Flightscope today said that it's accurate to 1 degrees for club path / face-to-path etc.

Skytrak today has only one advantage over the competition, namely the minimum space requirements.
For those who have enough space, Mevo+ is a clear choice.
