I'm interesting in buying a Skytrak. I'm a casual golfer looking to improve my game and play some different simulated courses. I've read the reviews dating back to 2016. It seems Skytrak customer support is still a problem. Updates and/or product roadmap is not clear or generally available. The unit works well until an issue occurs then you're back to dealing with support. Given some of the issues listed in the reviews, it doesn't seem like buying a used unit is worth the trouble. I'm not sure I should spend ~$2400 on a simulator that may or may not be working in a month.

If you don't have the space/environment for Mevo+ and aren't willing to involve yourself in a hefty subscription service with the Launch Pro, there really isn't much between Skytrak and a used GC2 (about double the price) if you're looking for a decent launch monitor.

Obviously people don't go and join a forum because they want to share how much they love their Skytrak. They join because they are having issues. Not a random sample. The last poll on the Skytrak Facebook user group had 98%+ satisfied users.
Having said that, it is now 7 years old. If you can hang on until the PGA show in January, there could be

I had a Skytrak for a couple years. Really liked it. But like most folks who started with a Skytrak and stuck with the simulator world, I upgraded to GC2. So my advice is unless you are really unsure about sticking with the sim world, just buy a used GC2 and be done with it. You will be a lot happier. And the software options are much better on a GC2.
If you go with Skytrak, there are a lot of good deals on used Skytraks here, usually with FMJ as part of the sale. I would not be concerned about buying used -- 99.99999 percent of them will be just fine.
Other than a GC3/BLP, which was just released, I would buy nothing new at this time. Like the above posters said, wait till PGA show in January to see what pops up.

That is actually what I wrote above, but half my comment was cut off. Nobody who has upgraded to GC2 has ever regretted it to my knowledge. Accuracy will be slightly improved, but delay gone, fewer no reads, higher trajectory shots read, short game reads better, can be used outside easier and so on. I also meant to comment that PGA show is only a month away, might want to wait. Also that Mevo+ with pro package is a game changer for game improvement folks.

But those who upgrade to GC2 are not a random sample. As mentioned, 98% of skytrak users are quite happy. Those who upgrade are in a group that is more discerning and has more cash to spend. It is an individual choice based on needs and circumstances. If the OP thinks he will be one of those who desires more than Skytrak can give, then skip it. I'd go used gc2 over Bushnell at current price points. But if space allows, mevo+. In fact, I'd trade my skytrak for a mevo+ in a heart beat.

For what it’s worth, I use a skytrak. I’m happy with it. The few times I had to deal with support in the beginning wasn’t a bad experience. There are some minor things about the skytrak that are well documented. No/read or mis-reads, shot delays, subscription pricing. The unit is accurate. At the time the GC2 was too pricey and the Mevo+ needs more space. The GC3 doesn’t do TGC2019 yet so that leaves a used GC2 which has come down in price. I have thought of upgrading. Might have a used Skytrak for sale soon. Lol. I’m glad I went the way I did but I might be ready for the upgrade.

I had a SkyTrak for two years before getting an GC2/HMT. I loved the SkyTrak and am still envious of their range features. Morini makes a great point about the age of the SkyTrak and the PGA show is just next month.
Luckily we will have most of the range features if not more soon!

If you are using it for game improvement, get the mevo+ if you have the space - otherwise it will end up costing you much more to switch later. I myself still have a skytrak but only rely on it for distance and shot shape. I use a mevo for the swing speed, ball speed, and smash (and a more accurate carry)
If you are just in it for a simulator, get the skytrak.

The 5 course iOS license is for E6 Golf software. The same software that you can also get for the Skytrak or any other launch monitor. In terms of Mevo+ accuracy, yes, it's accurate enough to improve yourself to become a pro golfer if you wanted to. But it does require a fairly noise-free environment with at least 15 feet of room between the screen to the Mevo+. (more ball flight the better)Originally posted by Jai View PostThanks for the feedback. The Mevo+ comes with 5 simulated gold courses. Is the monitor accurate with these courses?
