Anyone else have to align the unit to the right to get the alignment dots to line up?

The surface of the mat makes a big difference, especially if it's a new mat that hasn't flattened itself completely. Any height difference on the mat between the two alignment dots is going to move the dot towards or away from the Skytrak unit. The alignment dots were way off when I set up initially on my mat but when I lifted up the mat and looked at them on the concrete underneath then they were perfectly aligned with the long edge of the Skytrak unit and my target line. Now I just align the edge of the unit parallel to the mat...

What is the final conclusion on lining up the unit? I'm just hitting parallel to the unit now and it seems right or am i grooving a little over the top move? If i hit down the laser alignment, i must be real careful staying behind the ball or i get a shot that starts just left of the target line and drawing further left.

If i hit parallel to the unit my shots are left of the target. If you look at the pic, with my skytrak parallel to the wood planks, the alignment dots are pointed right. Shots hit parallel show as left of target...which is what would be expected if the laser dots reflect the correct alignment.Originally posted by coz View Postso on the range if you hit parallel to the unit are your shots right of target?

thanks for the image. My ST laser dots are the opposite. They point to the left as compared to parallel to the unit. I hit it on line if lining up parallel to the unit but maybe i am coming over the top. It's suppose to be 50 degrees tomorrow so i might be able to get out to the range and figure this out. Thanks for posting the image.Originally posted by N54TT

Just to confirm for myself that nothing was knocked around and lasers mis-aligned since hitting at the range when I first got it....I took some time to line up the laser dots with a target on my net. 100% my SkyTraks reference for center line are the laser dots...and NOT the body of the unit.

Tested this with mine tonight, as I have getting some low distance readings, and assumed an alignment issue. With my ST sitting exactly parallel to two evenly spaced lines, the forward alignment dot is at least 1/2 if not closer to 3/4 inches off the line...do I align with ST or laser dots, as neither would be aligned?

My own testing has shown that the lasers are not accurate and neither is having the ST unit parallel to the target. I find that the unit has to be open (pointing right) of the target by a few degrees.
Of course I don't know if this is universal or particular to my unit.

That's interesting, mine is the opposite where i have the skytrak pointing a bit left (closed) but the lasers are lined up pretty close to where im aiming. I kinda just took it that maybe the skytrak was supposed to be a tiny bit closed so it was pointing at your target as well so if you drew a straight line from the base of the where the skytrak was pointing and another line where the lasers were pointing they would intersect somewhere down range around where the target was. It made sense in my mind and seems to ring true for mine, but after now seeing some having the opposite deal it looks like it just something everyone needs to toy with until they get it right .......and then pretty much NEVER move move it again haha. I do make sure i have a tape marking on the floor around mine so i know the exact position every time.

I haven't used the alignment mode much. I tend to just hit a few chips into my aim point on the screen and adjust the unit til it shows that to be center on the image. It seems to work well as I cannot Fix my mat and unit into the same place all the the time in my set up.
