  • Protecting Skytrak

So I received my ST today and love the accuracy/ease of use. However, it makes me nervous having it so close and slightly in front. Anyone have any protection ideas until the protective case is released? I was planning on using it with our First Tee kids but I am holding off until the unit can be protected.

Pguttu are you having any issues with the Lexan?

Anyone have any idea what kind of case this one is in? Seems to be registering the shots just fine and looks to be a full enclosure.

I like this.......are there any higher that would fit the skytrak? I'd be game to buy one and test it out. Nice and clean looking, easy to remove.

Acrylic is not strong at all. My bet is one hit and its done. I am sure it would be OK for bounce back balls but most likely anything more and your buying a new one.

Are we looking into this protecting abit too much ? To hit the skytrak it's like hitting a ball into your own bay at the range and I can say I have never done that.

I don't think so. I want to be able to use mine for lessons for my daughter, as well as my nieces and nephews. I appreciate those that are looking into options. Plus, anyone that doesn't think their Skytrak needs further protection probably isn't paying much attention to the efforts in this thread.

DeaconBlooze have a good read I've put a lot of effort in, it was a general question.

My design is going to be mainly mdf with a cut out for lenses and dot so less can be hit, is Lexan covering just that a big deal ?

Yes if unlucky to hit there but what are the chances ?

Anyone thought about visar 01 Sure i remember reading something that they use it for anti vandal camera enclosures or something. Anti reflective and allows lots of the light spectrum pass freely. No expert and think it's probably expensive but if you only need a small piece shouldn't be too bad. Just a thought

TWiG I misunderstood your comment. I agree there. I figured if I were to make one myself, I'd take my chances and leave the lens open.

I have witnessed a hit to my own unit this week by a family member. It took a pretty good shank off the toe and it did not hurt anything, but it's the last time I want it to happen. My wife hit a GC2 with a driver shank at Dicks Sporting Goods it did not fare so well. Seth/SkyTrak any update on a case for us? I had one whole day where the unit worked perfectly through the Lexan. I worked on it again today with negative results. I will be cutting out the area around the lens and just hope it does not hit.

Lol, Mazen, you need a concrete urn vault for your SKYTRAK, I can get you one because I work at a funeral home. I think that is the only thing that will be able to save your days of golf simulation.

Yep I was demoing my SkyTrak yesterday and Sh**ked the first two shots into it with a wedge while talking......No damage, only to my ego, can't even blame a family member.

As promised lads please see attached photos. I have made an adjustable base for when been used off the mat to make sure it's level and correct height. Not had chance to try it yet and have left the Lexan so it's removable if it doesn't work. Once I'm happy with it I'll get it all filled and painted.

Looks great Twig. Now some Pearl orange metal flake flames on top of a base coat of Pearl white paint and you will have a winner. Don't forget the SkyTrak sticker.... I made one with formed lexan but it was to thick. Got to get my hands on some thinner lexan. But mine looks Caddy also. Nice work my friend. I dont see your bullet level? You going to add that after you paint it?

Cheers mate, I just use a level on iPhone to do the base but when in mat should be level the use base when off mat for driver. I'll post again when finished and when I have had chance to try Lexan out.

Very nice Twig! let me know how your Lexan did. I really need to protect my SkyTrak. I may just leave the area in front of the camera open. I know a ball will fit through there, but it's better than nothing.
