  • High Ball speed issue

    Hi @ll,

I am deep in the process of thinking about buying a Skytrak. I have read and seen many good things about the device.
However many times I have read that there is obviousely an issue with higher ball speeds (165/170+) being read correctly ?
At least in comparison to GC4 etc. it seems to be off by quite a bit.
So how severe is the misread and is there a fix to it ?

Unfortunately I have not really found and answer to this. And not even the Skytrak Hotline did know (or didnt want) to prvoide a valid answer.
So I am hoping for you guys !

    Thanks

I occasionally get to about 165mph with a driver. It seemed ok to me. It was not way out of line with a drive I might hit on course (when really tagged). I also hit at Club Champion last Summer on the Trackman and the numbers were comparable. For the price, Skytrak is great. When you move up the ladder to the more expensive units, you start to get more accuracy with data. There are times when I really hit a shot solid and the numbers on the Skytrak don't make sense, but that is less than 10% of the time.

There is no longer a high ball speed issue. It was fixed two years ago. It can read ball speeds over 200 mph accurately

This sounds great ! So since the GC3 is about 3x the price I will probably go with the skytrak then. Seems pretty decent unit for the price

You get what you pay for for the most part. Skytrak owns the photometric market in its price range. But many good options, each with pro & con: Mevo+, skytrak, used gc2, Uneekor, GC3, used quad.
      Working...
