Hi Seth. I'm new to this forum but have been reading as much as I can about SkyTrak on this and other forums. It seems that many experienced sim users think that The Golf Club game is the best simulator software out there right now. In fact, if I'm understanding and remembering things correctly, Bubba22 and Zmax were instrumental (please correct me if I'm wrong) in getting ProTee to integrate their sim hardware (and gc2) with The Golf Club software. So my question to you/SkyTrak is simply this: Has there been any thought to integrating SkyTrak with The Golf Club? And if so, what are the odds that this might happen? And if so, when?

Regarding system requirements to run TGC.
I have a laptop (Dell precission M4600 i7, 16GB RAM with a decent AMD GPU card).
It will run TGC but it's painfully slow and not acceptable.
But I also have a powerful desktop (Home built i7, GTX680 etc ...) that is used for work. So I don't want to park it in the garage for simulation.
With the latest Steam update I just noticed that you can do "home stream" game play. E.g. you have the laptop in the garage and the powerful desktop in the house where it's normally residing.
You start the game on the laptop but it's really running on the desktop and now it's super fast. The screen is compressed and sent to the laptop via the local LAN.
But in essence you don't need to care about all that. It just works.
I also tried it on my Dell XPS12 (core i7 but no GPU card. Uses the Intel HD4000 internal GPU). That PC will not even start TGC. Graphics is so slow that I doubt it would even run a 10 year old game.
Anyway I unfortunately updated that laptop to Win10, and there the Steam app does not have the latest and greatest features yet. So no "home stream" gaming on Win10 yet.
The other 2 PC's mentioned run Win7 64bit.
For those of you that have the Skytrak sim package. It would be interesting if you can test. Skytrak connected to a laptop and TGC running on a remote PC. I suspect that will not work but I am sure it could be fixed. I will look in to it when i get my sim package.
If the Skytrak would connect over WiFi to the powerful remote PC, then we could even use an nVidia shield tablet in the sim room.
I have 1 and will test it next ...

Update! After a few Steam updates and PC reboots "home streaming" now also work on the low spec Win10 laptop.
PS.
In case you are looking for a suitable laptop don't buy the Dell XPS12. Worst piece of garbage I ever tested.

That's really interesting. I wonder if one possible method is to use a wireless USB transmitter to get Skytrak talking to the powerful desktop. Something like this: http://www.amazon.com/Cables-Unlimit.../dp/B0036VNZHA

So after doing a little hunting it looks like said system will cost right around 1K give or take a few hundred? Is there a poor mans version that would be acceptable for simulation? How about an online source building a desktop specifically for sim?Originally posted by TWiG View PostHoosierdaddy this is what I found.

I like monitoring: https://www.reddit.com/r/buildapcsales/ to get really good deals on PC components. I recently built a very high end rig for less than 1K using it.

Here is what I have, it runs anything no problem, and you can pick it up for under $600 on Ebay. I have had this for 6 months and run numerous high graphic games on it with ease, it will handle any of these sims no problem.

Is 5 seconds that bad ? By the time you have got another ball ready it will be flying down the virtual fairway I hope.
Then you will be looking at the data, then then thinking what club to use, then a practice swing.
Taking all that into account 5 seconds is nothing.

Maybe, but it seems really annoying to me watching the videos. It definitely detracts from the realism--perhaps not a deal breaker, but it's something I'd like to see improved. I'm not interested in SkyTrak as a standalone unit (having just purchased ProTee). However, I am intrigued by the idea of integrating the two to get club and ball data. That could be a sweet combo and maybe not require purchasing a new TGC license.

I wish I could find the thread on building your own computer that used to be here. That would have put alot of these myths on using a laptop to rest. I can't remember one person who had any luck with one. And it had a ton of builds that worked.
But If you guys want to waste your money just go buy whatever you want.
Now for those of you who want to buy something that will work
My added suggestions from what I remember on the threads that used to be here will be in red
Recommended:
OS: Windows 7 (64Bit), 8 (64Bit), 8.1 (64Bit)
Processor: Intel Core i7 or equivalent I would suggest 3.2 ghz or better
Memory: 8 GB RAM
Graphics: NVidia GTX 670 or AMD 7850 w/ 2GB (or better!) I would go with something better 770 or better
DirectX: Version 11
Network: Broadband Internet connection
Hard Drive: 20 GB available space Never build a garage only big enough for your car.
Sound Card: DirectX 9.0c compatible
850watt POWER SUPPLY min.
fans fans and more fans.
house it all in a good big case with lots of air flow.
Just remember the recommended stuff above will work but only on low settings. If you want to get HD high quality picture you got to step up the game considerably
And also remember what you see on a 1080 monitor is nothing like what your going to see on the impact screen. Even when you got everything maxed out You get way less than 720 quality image on the screen. So the more you push out the better it gets on screen but its never gonna be like looking at a monitor.
Another thing to keep in mind is you will not be running the steam version of anything. You will be running the sim version. and you will not be projecting to a 1080 monitor you will be pumping out over a 25ft hdmi cord to a HD projector. BIG difference.
So buy what works not what someone who only has the steam version tells you will work. There is a huge difference.

i7 4770 or amd 8520 chip or better , 770 or higher card and then follow whats above with a bigger SSD. should do the trick. But that all hinges on a good internet connection. do a speed test and see what you got. 2 or 3 up and down might not cut it I have heard people with over 3 doing well. You need a strong signal if you want to run teamspeak. last year I only had 4 bars in here and the game would run fine but teamspeak would drop off all the time. So far this year no problems but I invested $25 into one of thos high power antenna's and let me tell you that thing did the trick. I tested it at home and I had only my router signal that was detectable. I plugged in the antenna and I had over 30
