Side Spin has made Skytrak Useless

Does anyone have a quick mental calculation to account for the error Skytrak spits out in regards to side spin? My shots are literally 30-40 yards overdrawing on each shot. As I’ve got better at golf and play a nice draw it’s become impossible to use my Skytrak.

I understand the spin axis decay but haven’t seen a solution. Is there one or is this machine just useless if you impart any “side” spin on the ball?

Spin decay was fixed in an update a while ago. Are you sure it's not a club/mat interaction causing the extra hook you do not see when playing outside on grass? Best way to tell is to take it to the range with you one day and how it matches up with the actual ball flight.

Also a possibility that it is indoor swing syndrome- I was subconsciously flat when first swinging a club indoors. After seeing video of myself I knew the issue was me and not my Skytrak. I have since moved on to GCQuad, but my Skytrak was very accurate.

Same with me. I hit "over draws" on my Skytrak, and now hit them on my GC Quad. I just know now that the amount they "over draw" on the Quad is probably very accurate. Lol.

Generally you might find the ss is exaggerated by perhaps 300-400 draw bias. Check out ‘indoor golf’ and ‘golf simulator videos’ comparisons against uneekor which confirm this (uneekor gets v similar results on ss to quad). Rest likely to be indoor swing syndrome but can always test at range too. Note radar tends to be a little fade biased against quad, so take that into account too

A few days later I was out on the course and continued to pull/hook a good majority of my shots. Never blamed the Skytrak again....

All the launch monitor groups are amusing for the sheer number of first-time users convinced it doesn't work properly.

If I had a dime for every time the launch monitor was "wrong", I'd never need to work.

I think it has a lot to do with the mat vs grass. A tiny bit of a fat shot on a mat will induce a draw/hook where in the real world the club will cut through the grass making no real difference in ball flight.

Absolutely. I’ve said the same here many times. It’s almost unreal how golfers do not have any idea how they hit the ball. Crazy
