I think most people would like to share the experience with friends or family members. I know I won't shank one bad enough to hit the unit now, but when I first saw it out there, the thought was definitely in my head. I want my guests to feel comfortable. I also want to be in a position to share the experience without worry, and without suggesting that they get a lesson before I'll let them swing.

I think this thread got off topic with the shield (which I brought up). Long story short the issue was customer service not being familiar with the Skytrak. If you read through the message board I think you will see that most have had issues when trying to contact customer support. I'm sure everything will get better but I just decided to return mine and we will keep track of things on here (which is an amazing resource).Comment

Yes protecting from bounce back.....to me that is the only protection I need. If you have a ball on the red dot.....It would be extremely hard to hit this unit off the club face.....I think anything else is over kill.Comment

I agree it would be extremely hard to hit it IF you are a decent golfer. But what about the night you have friends over and one of them has one too many beers. Or if you're using it to teach a young child or adult for that matter. I had a talk with one of the guys on here who uses the GC2 units at his indoor golf business. He told me they get beat to crap. He has the aluminum covers, and they get kicked, stepped on, hit with balls, almost everything you can imagine. So I am pretty sure the unit can and will get hit. I would want a cover, if for no other reason than just peace of mind. The last thing you want is another distraction or thought in your head when you're standing over a shot. Now if you're using it on the range exclusively it might not be a factor. But if it is being used indoors that is an entirely new situation. Those balls can and will do things that you would never encounter outside.Protee
