  • Skytrak Satisfaction

Simple question for a prospective purchaser here. On a scale of 1-10, please rate your experience with the Skytrak Range feature concerning:

    1. Accuracy in terms of distance, spin and ability to capture each and every shot.
    2. Ease of use in wirelessly broadcasting results onto ipad

You have all convinced me that the skytrak is a great buy. Does buying them from a certain retailer provide unique benefits? People here seem to like gung ho

Don't overthink it. Just place a tee for driver. It is just that the unit is calibrated so that level with hitting surface will give best chance to catch the range of trajectories, that simple. Nothing else magical about height. You could put the skytrak on a ladder, and it would read if you could get balls to pass in view of the sensors.

You can use a tee because driver shots have low trajectories and will pass in front of sensors.

Great information. Seen lots of posts in this, but never the true effects.

      10/10
      10/10

Very rarely have misreads. Mine will pick-up 99+/100 shots.

Very confident in the numbers. Have been on a trackman numerous times and the figures are practically identical to my Skytrak. At one stage i did think it was over doing the draw but a few adjustments got that sorted (i think it wasn't aligned quite right. Tiny adjustments to aligment make a big difference for me)

Connectivity has been flawless. Either through network mode on my laptop or direct to my iphone.

My issue before i purchased was the 2 second delay in shots but when you are the one hitting the ball its not a concern at all as by the time you finish you swing and look up the ball is taking off. It looks worse when someone else is hitting.

99 out of 100! That is something. I am hopeful that mine will be as effective. Placed the order and it is arriving on Thursday.

Most likely around 97 or 98%. If you set it up properly and avoid high trajectory shots, you are reasonable chance of getting that.

Kindly rank the biggest things to set up your Skytrak properly? From reading on the forum, it would appear that: 1. alignment, 2. unit is flush with hitting surface, 3. ???

1.Alignment, best method is the chipping method.
        2. Height, bottom of unit flush with hitting surface.
        3. Background, stay away from white or light colors behind you as you stand on your stance pad.
        4. Believe it or not, nothing white on your shoes and no white socks. Same idea as number 3. I wear black New Balance tennis shoes bought exclusively for my sim.

My 3 years of experience says these are the keys. I have very, very, very few no or mis reads.

I hit 147 shots on the range last night. 4 iron, 8 iron, and driver. I had no missed shots or anything that I suspected to be a mis-read.

Do you have it sitting on the same mat as where you hit ?

No. Here is a pic of my set up.I have a wooden base next to my stance pad, the base is marked so that I can replace the Skytrak back in the same spot every time if I move it.

I think there is really only one big one when it comes to reads: Height.

A second, and related one is a good case fit.

Alignment has zero bearing on no-reads, and but will result in HLA error, degree for degree. It will cause no other issues. Yes, chipping is easy way to confirm well aligned skytrak. If you are lucky, and it aligns parallel to edge of case, you can just eyeball alignment.

Background: I don't think white walls make any difference at all. Reflective objects can be an issue, however. White objects in the foreground can be an issue as well.

Also need to avoid light shining directly into sensors.

Some days 9/10, today 4/10 lol Nothing has changed and it misses shots sometimes 4-5 in a row. Im doing nothing different, its clean, no case, direct connection. Weird.. I get it that its only about $2000, but ugh.

I'd give it an 8 and 9.5. I dont get an mis-reads but maybe 2% no-reads. Certainly not a deal breaker but why does it always seem like the cleanest hit is always the one that doesn't read?? It does over read draws and fades to some degree. I go back and forth between a skytrak all summer at home then a flightscope X3 all winter. There's a definite difference in the tightness of the shots. I'm a 9.5 hc so some consistency in my swing.
Occasionally i need to reconnect the skytrak for some reason. Most of the time I just turn it and my ipad on and start swinging. Once a month or so I have to try for 10 min or so so get things going, no idea why.
It's a good purchase for a better entry level machine. I am looking to upgrade though so I can get some club info, waiting for the Uneekor mini compare it to the G3.
