I've been waiting to hear about anything evolving with the Skytrak device or software since the acquistion by GolfTec. I did hear a golf podcast last week about them offering an experience with Skytrak/GolfTec that you have to be able to set up and use the unit at your home and be within so many miles away from a Golftec store. It seems to indicate that the data will be sent to the GolfTec location and some sort of golf lessons specific to your data will be given to you. I don't know anything more on it than that. I am just surprised that given the competition in this market with the 2023 MEVO+, the Bushnell/Foresight GC3 and now the new Rapsodo MLM2 device just unveiled and getting a lot of attention since the PGA show, that the Skytrak people would be doing something - anything to enhance the product, even from just the software experience side of things. There have been so many good ideas on this site for software upgrades that haven't been made (- such as using dual screens for data delivery just bumped in another thread) and the lack of anyone from Skytrak responding to any threads doesn't make sense. I only saw a few posts from Skytrak people responding to the issues surrounding the GolfTec transfer a few weeks ago. It's like they are just going to try and benefit from future subscription charges and run it out - let it die and wither to the competition in the future. I can't believe that is why GolfTec bought it, to let it die - and I have to believe that there is a plan, but remaining silent isn't helping at all. I have had the unit since 2017 and have enjoyed it immensely, but clearly other devices are evolving in the same or lower price range, and if you're a new person looking for a system and home unit simulator, there are other choices that are actually doing things to try and earn your business. Skytrak already has a large base of users - it's not a good idea to just let them hang. Skytrak has a very small online presence, which in today's market, is shocking. If not for this site, I don't know where people could go to get real solid info on the Skytrak. I guess we will see...Any thoughts?

I am hopeful that skytrak actually does have some real enhancements coming, but I wonder when they actually plan to deliver on the “exciting new features” (whatever these mystery features are) and people are only going to wait so long while competitors keep developing better options.
I fear what will actually happen is, unless they quickly resolve the ongoing problems from the sale/software update, the price of skytrak units fall like a rock within the next year and golftec will basically abandon it and just collect subscription fees, but now they’ve made it worse. -
Just a guess, but I don't think Golftec would have made the purchase if there wasn't a new product in the pipeline.Comment

I think if they plan to offer anything new, it is going to be something that would benefit their business model, not necessarily skytrak users. Maybe offering virtual lessons from skytrak data and/or video.Comment

Thanks to everyone that replied with their thoughts. I guess I'm naive in thinking that Golftec/Skytrak wouldn't have an advertised plan in place by now to make the product more viable in today's market. Maybe they are waiting until they have the server issues fixed (next week there is a scheduled upgrade) before they introduce some new software updates or Golftec package - I don't know. I still think Skytrak holds it own right now in the market, but with the Bushnell/GC3 and upcoming Eye Mini in April, it's hard to believe that will continue without some sort of upgrade. And I still can't believe anyone from Skytrak on this forum has chimed in on this, even modestly giving some reassurance that there is something in the way of improvements in the pipeline. There are going to be plenty of Skytrak users looking to upgrade for one reason or another soon (including worn out curtains from 5-8 year old machines that I'm reading about more and more as the product is aging) as there are too many updated products coming to market in the photometric world, not to mention the recently upgraded Mevo+ that offers more measured parameters for those that can do radar indoors.
As stated above by Outlaw, it makes total sense that Golftec offers some sort of swing analytics by uploading your numbers strait to a GolfTec location in the hopes of selling lessons virtually, or better yet offering Skytrak lesson deals at their locations (ironically that use Foresight products)- maybe that's the angle but I struggle to think that was worth buying the company. As I said, I guess we will see and I still remain naively optimistic.

I guess this answers the question. A new Skytrak with updates and online lessons available with Golftec. I would think this unit has to read club data to make any online lesson data valuable. Hopefully sometime soon we will have all the details.
