I recently got a GC2. A friend gave me a good deal on one so I went for it.
Long story short, unless you have plenty of extra cash lying around, I'm not sure it's worth the extra cost over a Skytrak.
For everyone with a Skytrak, rest assured, the data from the Skytrak is VERY accurate. Practically identical to the GC2.
I've had the Skytrak for a number of years so know all my numbers with it really well and the GC2 numbers are the exact same.
I suppose what the GC2 gives is a bit more confidence in the numbers. A bit of peace of mind. For some reason we tend to question odd numbers on the Skytrak but will accept the same numbers on the GC2, and I suppose thats where the "value" is in the hefty upcharge.
For example, my spin numbers on the Skytrak were perfect from driver down to 8 iron, but from 9 iron to wedges they started getting very low. Like 2800 spin on brand new wedges. I obviously thought the Skytrak must have an issue reading my wedges.
Guess what. The spin is the exact same on the GC2. Maybe it's my mat ?
It's that certainty that you are really paying for in my opinion.
Either way, I suppose this is just a post for those with a Skytrak. Trust the numbers. Its a great unit.
I had very little no reads with my Skytrak and the 2-3 second delay never bothered me. (Its like 0.5-1 sec on the GC2) The delay on the skytrak always seemed worse when you were watching someone else hit rather than when you were hitting yourself, as by the time you finish your swing the ball was taking off.
The range on the Skytrak is infinitely better than FR1 too. One of the best out there.
If people are having issues with misreads, maybe I can see the frustration and the need the change, but if you are not having issues with misreads, enjoy the Skytrak. It's as good as anything out there IMO.
