I tried the online chat and being informed that if the unit is out of warranty, there is no mechanism for repair. In essence, it sounds like you have to buy a whole new unit and they will not fix/repair. Does anyone know if this is actually the case or not? I'm not thrilled at having to spend $2K and if it fails right after the warranty period(how many times have you had stuff fail just as the warranty expires? ) then I'm out $2k with no way to repair.

I would suggest you buy a protective case if worried about damage to the unit. MostOriginally posted by Moz View PostWaiting for this as well. Have the kids using the Skytrak and it makes me a bit nervous not having an answer to this in case we see a hosel rocket..
Winch monitor warranty won't cover accidental damage like a shank. Protect your investment with a protective case.

I see. I don't think the extended warranty would cover any ball damage like that. Thankfully it would be a freak accident if it happened but hey, Ian Poulter had a few shanks ths weekend! I know Foresight and others don't cover against any damage like that. http://www.foresightsports.com/sites...y.original.pdfOriginally posted by Moz View PostI have the case as well - I'm worried about a direct shot to the screen which isn't protected.
We should ge an update from Seth about any extended warranty, back in play etc. options.

Gotta build a protective screen with the schematic davray666 kindly gave us and posted I believe. Used a nice piece of lexan to cut then holes and then just sand it from there to get the holes just right yet still not let a golf ball through. My box I made with this screen has already saved my skytrak at least once or twice from someone hitting a crazy toe shot directly where the skytrak screen is. I cant even imagine playing without it now. Id feel like I was just gambling and hoping I didn't get unlucky and someone hit the opening on the official box they are selling. I have never hit my box personally but would be scared to if I was just sitting there bare and may even subconsciously alter my swing to make sure I didn't and then have a whole different set of problems.Originally posted by Moz View PostI have the case as well - I'm worried about a direct shot to the screen which isn't protected.

Seems like a product opportunity for SkyTrak - a more sturdy, more fully protective (i.e., protects the camera lens) enclosure. I have knocked a big chunk of plastic from mine, and I recall a post where someone's son damaged the clasp which closes the case. On the positive side, the few hits I have managed to inflict on the case might well have been fatal to the unit if it had not been in the case at all. So, it's a useful, but not optimal, protective measure. I'm glad I have mine, but would be happy to have the option of something more nearly indestructible if struck by a golf ball.

Skygolf will repair out of warranty after tech support trouble shoots if they authorize it. There is a minimum diagnostic charge, shipping costs and any hardware repairs needed will certainly cost extra. I’ve had a good experience with their technical support. However, this past weekend way unit has FAILED for a third time this year. Twice in the past 2-months, so I have emailed support this weekend. I’m anxious this time around.
