    UK purchase

With a bit of creative accounting I'm ready to pull the trigger and purchase the SkyTrak. What's the best way for me to get hold of a unit in the UK? I don't have any contacts in the US. Having looked at Ebay, I notice that a guy in Glouster, UK, is selling for £1425 ($2229), however it seems he's a rougue trader who goes by the name of Marc Cottrell and has a thread on the Golfmagic website about his antics. There was a dude on this forum who could import from the US but I don't see him on Ebay any more.

I think you may need to be careful importing this device into the EU. It probably needs to be CE Marked and when I previously talked to SkyTrak, they had never heard of CE Marking/Certification. It's a self certification, but may be required because of the WiFi and electrical connections/battery charging.

If UK Customs were in a stroppy mood, it could cause problems and perhaps confiscation.

Probably not an issue if you brought it into the UK on your person.

I am trying to find out the exact ruling on CE marking from the German Zoll/Customs as they are always very thorough about importing parcels into Germany.

It is also going to be quite expensive after you add 20% UK VAT and possibly a small amount of Import Duty on top of the sale price including the freight and insurance costs.

Hopefully the SkyTrak may become available in the UK at a more realistic price than an imported US model + European Taxes (in my dreams!!)

The customs ruling is simple: no CE mark, no import. And you can return the parcel (in custom's office) back to the sender. At your expense. Learned it the hard way with a Vector Pro.

Yes that is what I thought, though buying something from the US is going to be very expensive to ship back. I thought they can even seize the goods, but maybe that is just for illegal stuff. ***

The German Customs people replied to me today and said it is not them who determine the need for a CE mark, or otherwise. Referred me elsewhere - probably Brussels.

Doesn't make much sense, since they must do the controlling of CE imports and not everything needs a CE mark. I suspect that things like the SkyTrak and also the Arccos Golf Tracker, which I am looking at, would need a CE mark because of the WiFi (SkyTrak) and the BlueTooth (Arccos).

          All a bit confusing.

Where are you based? In EU?

Did you have it sent from the USA where psgolfer is and was there any problem with EU Customs (re CE marking)? I assume you probably had to pay EU VAT/MWSt, etc. if you are in the EU.

England, Yeah got it sent from USA. No problem with customs. Don't remember there being any import duty but this might have been added prior to sale.

UK Skycaddie website now lists Skytrak on the site but still says coming soon. Have told me that will be showing prices and able to order tomorrow, so will see what the UK price is and how it compares to an import

Don't suppose they will be offering a discount like they did for early buyers in North America (even though they told me they would be, previously).

UKP 1695, inclusive of VAT. Shipping November 2015, CE certified. Shipping ???

Doesn't look like Europe will be getting the early discount that N America were granted :-(

                              http://www.hiseman.com/media/release...ch_090915.html

Pretty much exactly the same release that was on the SGB site. Was all set to order but think Ill hold off until theres more info available with the Sim Options. Was hoping after that UK launch there'd be a bit more info available but Im assuming by the Mid Nov date of delivery that by then we should see all the options and subscriptions that are available so can make an informed purchase

Am never a great fan of preorders in general, especially when its a new to market product.. looks like will have to be an early Christmas present and just hope they've brought enough stock in that ill be able to get one. Slightly disappointed if Im honest, was hoping after such a feature packed launch there'd be more on offer than just another "coming soon"
