    Sudden loss of distance

I have the original Skytrak which until recently has been spot on with distances. Now, after moving to a new house/sim setup, I am experiencing a consistent 30yd-ish loss of distance across all clubs. My distances on the course have not changed.

My hitting bay set up is pretty much the same, only a change in background. I have checked the height and leveling of the unit. What else might cause such an abrupt, drastic, and consistent change in distances from the Skytrak unit?

Might be a dumb question, but did you try a new ball? Sometimes I'll get really short distances and find out the ball was cracked. Sometimes it's inside and can't be seen.

How do the spin and ball speed numbers compare before the move?

Hello, I had exactly the same thing. I've had the skytrak for 4 years, 50K shots and know my distances/speeds/spin #'s etc inside and out. Every single club was 10-15 mph slower on the new skytrak +. EG, my PW is between 82 and 84mph, and will carry between 124-129 consistently. If I go after it hard, I can get to 90mph and reach 140yrds carry. Most of my shots on the Skytrak + were in the 67-69mph and I couldn't break 115 yrds carry, really going after it i got up to 75mph. This felt so wrong especially since my distances play out on the course and at the range as well. So i did 4 things. My driver swing speed is normally 105-108mph, with a carry of about 250.....I couldn't get over 90mph and it wasn't even going 210yrds, which is my normal 5 wood.

          1) played on a friends trackman......my club speeds and distances were back to normal.
          2) went to the range with the skytrak +, it had some trouble reading shots but those that it did were vastly different. Skytrak was recording 115yr carry, but i was easily 125yrds + for my pw.
          3) Had a coaching lesson and paid attention to my swing speeds....normal!!
          4) played a round and missed the green long for the first 7 holes as I was playing the new numbers. Switched back in my head and everything was back to normal.

Shot shape and spin numbers where were i expected them to be, it was purely club speed that was WAAAAAAYYY off and I lost all confidence in the skytrak+.

So I contacted skytrak and explained everything. It took an hour of going back and forth before they agreed to exchange the skytrak. Originally they wanted to refurb it....but I haven't payed $3k for a refurbed unit, i demanded a new one even though it was 40 days after purchase. They finally agreed, the old one was sent back a few days ago, I should have the new one soon. If its not back to normal then I'm demanding a refund. Note, i've had a ton of coaching recently and my swing has only gotten smoother and faster.

          Hope that helps.

Please let us know how the new one performs, and if it solved the issue.

To be honest I never payed alot of attention to ball speed, spin numbers seem pretty much the same. I haven't made an exhaustive test, but I do seem to be getting more accurate distance in the Fitness Golf driving range.

Hmmm, I haven't done format testing, but my distance issue seemed to be resolved after updating to the new version yesterday.

Zero chance that the update had anything to do with your distance. With all due respect, this is mass hysteria. You didn't even compare ball speeds, and then you had a bad session or two and posted about the update robbing you of distance, which in turn causes others to think the same. I'd start by paying attention to the ball data. Just in case you weren't aware, the updates do have nothing to do with the Skytrak hardware. Doesn't touch it. Most updates are about Skytrak range functionality and nothing that affects distance is affected. For the few that do, they don't automatically rob you of distance.

I've done more testing with the Skytrak + and I'm returning the machine and demanding a refund.

I got my original one replaced and I fully expected my club speed numbers to be either the same as the 1st Skytrak+ that I got, or close to the original skytrak #'s. Well i got neither, the club speeds where slap bang in the middle and gave me a 3rd set of numbers.

            EG....Original Skytrak PW was 82mph, 1st Skytrak+ was approx 69-72, the new skytrak+ is 72-75.

I took the skytrak machine to a local bar that has Tiger Woods simulator bays, Wired Golf. I monitored all of the club speeds and I was even more surprised.

PW was a 2-3mph difference so about 78mph, 5yrd difference, same shot shape and spin numbers.
7I was 5-7mph difference, 10yrd difference, same shot shape and spin numbers.
5wood was 10mph difference, 20-25yrd difference, completely different shot shape but similar spin numbers.
Driver was 15mph difference, 40+yrd difference, COMPLETELY different shot shape but similar spin numbers.

According to the Skytrak+ I was fading driver and 5 wood, where the Full Swing was showing a draw to hook. One shot had a 100yrd dispersion of right to left.

I'm at a point where I've lost all confidence in the Skytrak+, and now because i don't believe in the results its begun to get in my head. I began to swing harder, my tempo got worse and it was beginning to drift over to the course. So i've stopped using the skytrak+....which sucks. I've spent 1-2 hours a night for the last 3 years in my garage with the original skytrak, and loved it. Now I'm just using my net and working on tempo, without the skytrak+.

I'm at a loss and extremely frustrated. I'm currently working with customer service, they are aware of all of my issues. IMO this is just not good enough and is extremely disappointing.

I have also experienced a loss of distance lately. My unit is about 2 years old. I am losing about one club carry across my irons. e.g standard 7 iron was about 105mph ball speed, 150 carry (also IRL). Now about 95-100mph and about 130-135 carry. I am using newer premium balls. Spin rates and side-spin readings seem ok.

I also had iron fitting recently on a Foresight monitor with about 105-110mph and 150-155 carry on a 7 iron. (ie normal readings for me)

Based on what I have been reading, I am assuming this is likely a hardware issue? I could jack up the elevation to increase distance, but would rather just use the unit to warm up before playing and not sweat the lower carry numbers.

I have the plus and really like it. find the shot shape and distance pretty much spot on compared to my actual on the golf course. The only thing I noticed is the launch angle to be a bit lower than in the course. I think Skytrak should do an update after the plus has been out a while to tweak the unit.

I just experienced a sudden loss of distance with my irons? Woods seem ok? Uneekor QED with TGC2019. I haven't changed balls or updated the software. Irons are 15-30 yards less on shots for some reason. This occurred over the past week (about 4 rounds). I re-calibrated the system 3 times but no change. Anyone experience this before or have a solution?
