  • SkyTrak and WGT

    Hi all,

I have seen many people asking about skytrak and WTG and it seems like that the people who are beta testing TGC and E6 have never
played or tested WTG. It seems like nobody in this forum has tested it. There is no videos ... nothing. But from what I keep hearing
skytrak is coming out with WTG first...? Is there anybody who has some more detailed info or talked to somebody who tested it ?
I'm only interested cause I'm pretty sure it will be the cheapest of all versions and to test it out it would be that big of an investment.
I own a skytrak since about 5 month and can't wait for course play. The problem is I'm on the road a lot so I will not be able to play
on a regular basis. That's why TGC ,even that it seems to be the best choice, doesn't make much sense if it's going to be a monthly
prescription. Really hope to get some infos or even videos about skytrak with WTG.

  • you are absolutely correct. My mistake if I stated otherwise

    • I'm fairly new to ST and know very little about virtual tourneys and all that, but I was recently checking out the WGT website and I noticed something a bit strange. There was a list of top players, so I opened one players profile. I think he was either the number 1 ranked player or one of the best ranked players at least. Under his scoring average, it said something ridiculous like 52. Can somebody explain to me how it is even possible to shoot a 52. I think the all time low on the pga tour was 13 under 59. Is it a hack or is something else going on there?

      • Is it me or are the greens in WGT really slow. I have a 20 foot birdie ball practice green that runs at about 11 stimp. From 12 feet in WGT practice green with the speed jacked up to tourney, I had to bang em right to the bumper at the end of my 20 foot birdie ball green just to get it to the hole in WGT.

          • I purchased a ST with play and improve pkg I got the WGT app on my ipad and even though my net and mat hasn't showed up yet I opened the WGT app with the ST on and it recognized my unit when it asked if I wanted to play with ST and took me to the play area but it only offered one course which was Pebble Beach I thought I am suppose to get access to 10 courses ? Any ideas would be appreciated. Kevin.

            • Recently purchased ST and have been using the practice range. Overall it appears reasonably accurate. However, when I play a round on WGT, it's terribly inaccurate with all kinds of pus slices into trees, short dribblers, etc. Has anyone else experienced this? I feel like I'm swinging the same as on the practice range, and so data from the ST shouldn't be any different. I feel it has to be how the WGT is processing that data. Using an ipad2. What do you guys think? Will probably try another sim software after this year's subscription is about over.

Couldn’t agree more about your observations about WGT accuracy. I cancelled my yearly and just use the basic range. Skytrak is so tight a$$ed about what is free they won’t even allow you to modify the air temp. LOL.

            • is WGT even worth paying the $200 for? Seen very mixed reviews about the accuracy etc.

              • I think it’s worth it.
Beautiful picture graphics and course selections, I find the ball data very accurate. Chipping ok and putting needs work, I usually auto out but depending on distance will putt. I do like the settings ability to change green speeds but hasn’t really helped on putting, definitely though for holding greens on chips. Some people complain about the angles from photo shots. I’m hitting into a net so it doesn’t bother me at all. These courses are hard, wish I was a better golfer!

Price is a bit steep for the quality and functionality of WGT (really should just be $100/year and be included as part of GIP). But for people w only iPad (or iPhone) w/o computer w powerful enough graphics card to play other sims, this might be only option for sim play.

                  • Is anyone familiar with the WGT update cycle? Talk of new courses or features? Thoughts here?

I went on the iTunes Store, software updates over the past year were mostly in-game purchases (clubs, gear, holiday themes, etc) or generalization of ‘bugs’. It seems on the WGT boards there is not a lot of Skytrak feedback on enhancements or future integrations there. It also doesn’t seem as though new courses will be added in the short term, the one new course initiative over the past year that was added seemed to be a “best of” course but to me that appears to be a lazy move, almost doesn’t count. Overall I’m pretty happy with the value of WGT, integration/accuracy with Skytrak and simplicity of how it’s delivered via iOS devices.

                    • Does WGT have tee box options? I have a 10 year old son and trying to understand if he can play. He's not going to like 400-500 yard holes. Thanks

                      • Yes, full 9 or full 18 have tee choices. However, challenges do not, those distances are fixed.

                        • Hello everybody
Allow me a short introduction. My name is Ricardo and I live in Brazil. Two years ago I lived in San Diego with my family for 1,5 years. There, I came back to play golf and I knew Golf simulation world and I thougth: It's perfect to me! In San Diego I knew Foresight and I decided to bring to Brazil two simulators: GC2 and GCQuad. Here in Brazil there is no golf simulation, practically. I built in my house a very nice golf simulation space, when I came back a year ago. However, there is nobody here in Brazil to talk about this subject and to change experiences. So, I had to start my own researches about this subject. Google is so poor when you tipe "golf simulation" or "golf simulators" and I've noticed there aren't much literature about that.
I had a very good luck to find this forum, to start changing experiences with golfers around the world and to learn with you all. I'm very impressed with this forum. Here we have practically all simulator devices, all softwares and people who knows so much about. My apologies for my poor English, but That's all I have to change knowledge.
I've start writing a book about golf simulation, so, first, I have to learn with you all. I'm going to ask in all different simulator groups many questions.
                          About Sky Trak:
It seems to me a very good simulator, do you agree? I've seen many people in Sky trak groups in this forum, so, it seems many people are using this simulator. Is Its software TGC?
Is TGC the best software to all simulators?
                          Thank you all,
                          Ricardo

                          • Does WGT have a development cycle to support Skytrak?
I’d like to see algorithm refinements and new courses. Of course, multiplayer.
Is there anything on the horizon?

                            • I'd like to see a distance adjustment setting in WGT.
I find the distances on WGT don't match my real world shots. Could very well be the often mentioned indoor hitting phobia, but the ability to adjust well hit shots to roughly what you can do on a real course would make WGT much more fun for me. They could block it for their competition/tournament stuff, but for playing for personal enjoyment it would go a long way toward making it a more pleasurable experience. And heck, even if you adjusted it to some kind of monster hitter level for your own private use where's the harm?
                              My $.02 worth.

I agree 100%. Most sims have this ability. I think your right on the mark. I've been using swinging indoors for about 2 years now and believe I've left the indoor swing behind. With the skytrak I'm generally 5-8% off my IRL distances. So using the sims that have this feature is preferred.
