  • SkyTrak and WGT

    Hi all,

    I have seen many people asking about skytrak and WTG and it seems like that the people who are beta testing TGC and E6 have never
    played or tested WTG. It seems like nobody in this forum has tested it. There is no videos ... nothing. But from what I keep hearing
    skytrak is coming out with WTG first...? Is there anybody who has some more detailed info or talked to somebody who tested it ?
    I'm only interested cause I'm pretty sure it will be the cheapest of all versions and to test it out it would be that big of an investment.
    I own a skytrak since about 5 month and can't wait for course play. The problem is I'm on the road a lot so I will not be able to play
    on a regular basis. That's why TGC ,even that it seems to be the best choice, doesn't make much sense if it's going to be a monthly
    prescription. Really hope to get some infos or even videos about skytrak with WTG.

    I have enjoyed playing with my real clubs. I never checked out wgt prior to skytrak integration but I personally don't know how much of a fan I am of the non ball follow and the ball just landing on a picture etc. I definitely will be playing but will most likely upgrading to a different sim option upon release.

      To each his own, of course, and on Sims I enjoy ball follow too, but when I play a real round I pretty much am stuck with a static point of view. Sometimes can't even see the ball land. In that respect wgt is pretty realistic.

    there might be additions including ball flight, ect. that's a great suggestion

      I put the numbers into the flight optimizer and the ball flight seems way off. Way too much right to left spin when integrated into the app. Anyone know how to equate the number of side spin we get in skytrak to the spin axis in the flight optimizer? It is asking for a number between 0 and 45 but we get numbers in the 100s to 1000s on skytrak. Hope I am not hitting that much if a hook.

        Isnt the Spin Number on Skytrak effectiver RPM, but the optimiser look for axis, ie angle?

          You are able to toggle the setting in the SkyTrak app to read either Spin Axis in degrees or Side Spin as a number relating to rpm.

          Given that a golf ball only spins on one axis and tilts left or right, I much prefer to read that measurement as Spin Axis in degrees of tilt.

          I hope the next ST update saves these settings because at the moment you need to change it each time you log in.

          Would be nice to have the option to change this setting in the WGT sim as well.

            Ball follow is technically not possible with static images.

              This is what I use. I think there are other ways.

              spinaxis = tan(sidespin / backspin) * 180 / pi

                Firstly, owned a skytrak for almost a year whilst waiting for a sim. I almost purchased a gc2 yesterday as i was unsure when a sim was going to get out of beta testing and watching the tgc and e6 sim intergration with the 6sec delay i almost bit the bullet on gc2.
                Well , im super glad i didnt pull the trigger because the wgt sim is sweet !! And the delay on ipad 2 air is less than 3 secs. I got the delay down a little having a wifi booster in my garage. Happy golfing guys !

                  Why did you buy a gc2 then? If you could afford the gc2 why even bother with skytrak?

                    Really? Why would you need a video tutorial? Why not just state that in your original post?

                  I got all fired up and connected to WGT but after the shot it gets hung up at "computing shot". So close but yet so far away!

                  Anybody else have the same issue?

                    If your able to borrow a wifi booster i would get that installed in your sim room , it solved my network mode issues on skytrak

                    Here is some feedback:
                    1: The camera angles are just fine, just increase the thickness of the ball flight line/tail and leave on screen longer. (Longer tail). Also a bright neon color ball flight line would probably be better.

                    2: I am not sure any of the lies in the rough or bunker really generate any penalty (not that I am complaining)

                    3: lots of reconnecting for some reason (not sure if it's a personal network issue of mine)

                    4: wow I am not used to wind!!

                    5: wow I am getting a lot of spin back on the greens ... 10500 rpm will do that.

                    6: I am left handed ... And everything seems to work just fine. (Had to make sure I select lefty in the options)

                    7: this is addicting

                      I have a hardwired connection running to my building housing sim with wifi 10 feet from my setup, doubt a booster is necessary. I'll try it again since I was on limited time yesterday.

                        I completely agree with point number 1, hopefully they can look to make some changes to allow for better flight view.

                        For point number 3, do you have a long lag time for your shot to render? I was having connecting issues at first and then did a complete power cycle of all my devices and network gear, this resolved all my problems. It's amazing what power cycling will fix!!!!
