SkyTrak and WGT

Hi all,

I have seen many people asking about skytrak and WTG and it seems like that the people who are beta testing TGC and E6 have never
played or tested WTG. It seems like nobody in this forum has tested it. There is no videos ... nothing. But from what I keep hearing
skytrak is coming out with WTG first...? Is there anybody who has some more detailed info or talked to somebody who tested it ?
I'm only interested cause I'm pretty sure it will be the cheapest of all versions and to test it out it would be that big of an investment.
I own a skytrak since about 5 month and can't wait for course play. The problem is I'm on the road a lot so I will not be able to play
on a regular basis. That's why TGC ,even that it seems to be the best choice, doesn't make much sense if it's going to be a monthly
prescription. Really hope to get some infos or even videos about skytrak with WTG.

Thanks for your input. I am also hoping that not only they will come out with something that would make it much easier for lefties and rights to both be able to use the skytrak but that the next PC 2.1 beta version will be released shortly. I have read several post that for us lefties the unit itself is fine, was just concerned about a few previous post about using WGT and having issues in the left handed mode with everything pulling to the right?.. thanks again hope to actually have one in a couple weeks.

Jim, the putts actually go to the left for righties and that's using E6, WGT putting is fine other than the "auto putt" which is well known.

PC Beta is fine, it works as promised.

As for switching between left and right, it's the same issue we have with GC2 or any photo based LM. I have set up tape on my mat to switch back and forth. The only hassle is the USB plug in.

I'm a rightie and my putts fly off to the right. I also have to hit them ridiculously hard. Greens feel like 1 on the stimp meter in wgt.

Thanks for the input. think im about ready to pull the trigger.. was hoping the newer PC version would be out, still hoping by Thanksgiving.. should have one in use by them ( I hope)

I had some trouble with WGT Distances today, When I hit in the Skytrak range things are spot on with driver at like 275yrs but when I'm playing in game mode my drives don't go over 220 yards

Rcush88 , I've playing nothing but E6 the past almost month. Figured, why not, let's play Chambers Bay on WTF (sorry WGT). WIOW, what a disappointment. I don't understand how this product was released with such fanfare. Yardage issues galore. I hit middle of the screen, but due to the angle, I'm way off. Why don't these issues get fixed?

I'm hoping the DELAY (not sure what else to call it) of PG, TGC and E6 are to work out the bugs.

This really isn't a tough concept. Well maybe it is for some, I don't know, the proof seems to be there. With WGT, you set your target via the game and then just hit a straight shot like you would using the Skytrak software. That's all, instant good results. You KNOW that WGT uses different angles so when you continually bitch about it you just look hardheaded. I have played many enjoyable rounds understanding this very, very simple concept. Is it ideal? No. But WGT is not going to change their entire game for a tiny subset of users. Quit whining, especially when the solution is so simple a monkey could figure it out.

HEEE, HHEEEE, EHEEEE. that's the best monkey impersonation I have in me. As for your game play comments, That's great your happy with WTF, I am not and neither are alot of users. With the closest to the pin challenges everything was 1st person/ Then the "game" is released and it's not the same.

Nobody's 'bitching' (as you so elegantly put it), we are sharing our experience with others. You can do the same too, but don't knock us for your views.

Bottom line is......they should have a full 9 hole play so you know what your getting. This is a joke, I don't care about the $$. IT's just not fun game play for me. That's it, my 2 cents.

I think problem w WGT is it's a game maker (not a sim software maker) - hence the no multi-player, weird angles (for gamers who swipe to hit balls to feel like they're watching golf on TV instead of actually playing), chipping/putting issues, etc. I think U.S. SkyTrak chose a wrong partner to launch their first sim product. Must have been SkyGolf's idea - which leads me to the other problem which is wrong partner to market/distribute/support SkyTrak (SkyGolf is a rangefinder company that knows nothing about LMs or sim - hence the poor support and the stupid subscription model which works for SkyCaddie coz it provides updated and new courses, but not for sim software in particular the regular GIP package).

Yeah, I can't stand the 45 degree angles. I know WGT wasn't originally created as a sim software, but don't understand why they wouldn't have the golfer aiming in 1st person. Even in other video games that is the correct way to develop the golf game. Nobody wants to be looking at the side. For $100 I've gotten a little fun out of it, but really only playing E6 anymore. E6 is a great sim software. It really plays nice, has all the correct features in a sim software like multiplayer, different tees, boosting, modes of play. The only two issues I have with E6 is the graphics aren't as good as TGC and the ball view seems too close on the ball. You are always watching the ball and looking down at the grass. The ball view in Perfect Golf and TGC is done really well! But E6 is a lot of fun too play!

Yeah, in its current form I think WGT is worth at most $100 and def not $100 annually so I don't think many will be renewing at the end of first year.

My Skytrak will be here tomorrow. hopefully the new PC version 2.1 will be out as well. I'm still a bit confused on the WGT simulator.. is WGT available for the PC?.. can seem to find a solid answer . I did purchase the play package, and hope being I have only a PC i didn't waste $100. Can someone clarify the confusion.. Guess I would just like to have this somewhat figured out before I start setting up tomorrow. Any help is appreciated..

yes, but it's browser based and doesn't work with skytrak

As of right now you need an ipad to use skytrak with WGT. As mhage said the PC version of WGT will not work with skytrak. From what it seems like It will not be for a while. I think Andoid/ST will come out before WGT Pc version and ST. There are too many PC sim software projects going on with ST that I can't see WGT being a priority

If it doesnt work with Skytrak how come they are selling it as a package with Skytrak.. Now I am more Confused.

WGT only works with Skytrak on iPad and (perhaps) iPhone products. PC maybe at some point in the future, but don't plan on it soon.

This WGT promised 10 full courses (actually originally I believe they promised 20) but seems like there are only 9 full courses available for play? Can't find Bandon Dunes? Or is it just the Best of Bandon Par 3 which is not the real Bandon Dunes par 72 course?

Yep, Bandon Dunes is just all the par 3's from Old Mac, Pac Dunes, Ban Dunes and Trails with a scattering of holes from the 13 hole preserve course.........All of which I have playing IRL.

Best golf trip ever..................102 holes in 2 days. All walking. Great fun.

So ya, I too was disappointed to not being able to play all 18 from Bandon Dunes. Also part of my complaint that I shared with you.

Oh ya, I might not of posted in the thread, but when I got WGT, I first played Chambers Bay (great track) and then Bandon was next on my list. Then I was very disappointed that it was only par 3's.

To me it should be in the Par 3 section and not the full course section.

I was thinking about buying Skytrak before the Nov 30th deal runs out. I am correct in thinking that WGT can only be played on an Apple device. I have PC only. Still wouldn't it be a little cheaper still since you get the protective enclosure and the Game Improvement package even if I can't use WGT. The E6 demo will work on PC right?

You are right. E6 only PC. WGT only Apple. I am running both . Just waiting for the Apple 2.1 version to be released.
