Sorry in advance for the longer post. About 5 years ago, I gave my SkyTrak to my dad and got out of the sim game for about a year. Along with the OG SkyTrak, I gave him everything. An enclosure, my sim desktop PC and all the software on it. Hitting mat…everything!’
I had purchased TGC Lifetime and paid for the upgrade to TGC 2019. All of that was included on my computer along with the SkyTrak app and at one point I even had E6 and Perfect Golf on it.
I had the Game Improvement Package and every year, I would just pay the yearly subscription and my dad would send me a check for it.
We live 800 miles apart and my dad only uses it in the winter when he’s home (October - April). The last couple of years, he’s had some health issues and hasn’t used it much. I did initially go out and set it all up for him in his basement. And almost every October when he goes to his home down south to his home in Colorado, I have to try to help him “get it going” over the phone. I’m in North Dakota. Finally, last year, I had him install Team Viewer, so he could share his screen for me to troubleshoot.
Last year I decided to have him sign up for his own SkyTrak account, so that he could just make his yearly payments directly and cut me out as the middleman. I’m not positive that he used it much, if at all, last year.
Today, he called me and said he was ready to hit some balls, but of course he couldn’t remember how to “get it going”, so he called me. I got on his computer thru Team Viewer and walked him thru everything. Updated his SkyTrak app, and also updated the TGC Simulator Interface, more on that later. And of course he forgot his password to login to the SkyTrak app. So we figured out how to reset that and logged back in to the updated app.k Showed him where to find the range in the new app and talked about the new course play (but if he wanted to use that, he’d have to upgrade). Had him hit a few shots in the SkyTrak range to make sure that was working, and it did.
Next, we opened up TGC 2019 and I had him hit a few shots to make sure that was working fine. He hit a shot and the red dot disappeared and nothing happened. I logged into the SkyTrak clubhouse to see if I could figure out some troubleshooting tips, and one of things said to update the TGC Simulator Interface, so we did that and restarted his computer. Then we went back on TGC 2019 and kind of had the same experience. I went into the system tray and opened the Interface, disconnected and reconnected AND hit the arm button. I had him try again. It worked! Had him hit a couple more shots and they worked too. I disconnected from Team Viewer and let him play. And I went back to enjoying my day off. Hour or two went by and he sent me the following text:
I played 9 holes at the Vardon had one good hole I chipped it in on 4 for a 2 but on the second hole they said I was getting a free trial because of fees unpaid
Looking for some help to see if this would have anything to do with him having his “own” SkyTrak account and not “using” mine anymore? Can anything be done? Other than maybe having me resubscribe and have him go back to paying me every year when it renews? Any ideas or suggestions?
THANK YOU in advance!
