Guys,

We have just released v2.0 for iOS. I will address game improvement issues from the past in a different thread, so let's keep this conversation about v2.0 and any questions you may have with it. It looks like some of you who were testing the PC release had the Game Improvement Package, but it was not linked to your device. It was an easy enough fix, but I've had the SkyGolf team go ahead and search all users/subscriptions and take care of any remaining similar issues, so it should not be an issue moving forward.

I'm sorry I haven't been able to be on the forum this or last week, but there's been a lot going on behind the scenes. I will just say that this release was timed for the full release of WGT.

V2.0 RELEASE NOTES

- Added subscription/license requirements for Subscription Package features and Simulation partners
- Resolved Data Sync issues
- Added SkyTrak Hardware Battery Indicator
- Added “+/-“ fine-tune adjustments for Closest to Pin distance adjustment
- Added ability to save Session Settings (remains on last used)
- Average distance on the range is now for current club only
- Fixed Side Spin Average bug in Session History
- Added ABOUT screen in Profile – Displays software version, firmware version, and registration information (for now, this will only serve as a register device button)
- Users are automatically upgraded to hardware firmware version 1.35 for future putting functionality
- Various bug fixes/backend/server communications/licensing work

Downloaded newest ios version and seems great. Having trouble linking though my account direct so just went no registered user to try out. Trying to log in now with password connected to network but it won't connect still. Anyone else having this issue?

Did they release version 2.1. My ipad shows Skytrak 2.1. So this should be the release with driver distance issues.

I couldn't connect either. Kept saying there was an issue with licensing. Deleted app and re installed. Works now. Still not syncing though. I gave up on trying.

I'm following up on the version number. I can assure you that what is out there is v2.0, regardless of what may be listed there. I know that the team switched versioning methods just prior to this release, so that might be where the mixup was.


EDIT: Confirmed - I'll take care of this in the next release. Just a conflict between the two methods.

Any plans to give to give options to change the ball flight view on the challenges? I hate not being able to see the ball flight in first person view.

Yeah, you can't change flight view in Practice mode any more with v2, also. Very annoying. Really dislike the "Dynamic" view, would prefer First Person to be the default if they're going to limit it to one view.

Looks like they've pulled a bunch of existing features away from "free" (remember, we bought a $2K piece of hardware) members in v2. Would MUCH prefer they add new, pay-only features rather than take away stuff we're used to.

Also, can we change the default from 50 shot tracer. It just turns into a hot mess of lines and I think most people would want first person view and 1 or 5 shot tracer as their defaults.

That's correct. So far, what I've discovered was taken away are 1) Session History, 2) Stats, 3) Camera Angle (fixed to Dynamic), 4) Tracers (fixed to 50), and 5) Challenge modes (ugh). Quite a list.

What about the wind and conditions?

They're still configurable.

I still haven't updated.

Wishing I hadn't now, too.

I was under the impression from Bubba22 last year that to update the firmware on the Skytrak unit, it would have to be connected to a PC via usb cable. Is that no longer true? By updating the iOS app to version 2.0, does the app automatically transfer the new version 1.35 firmware data to the Skytrak unit via Wi-Fi? Would there be any special light flashing sequence to confirm that the firmware data transfer to the Skytrak unit is being done correctly? Also does the Skytrak unit have to be in direct-connect mode to update the firmware, or can it perform the update also in network mode?

Yeah, that's the way it used to be. Now we can do it over Wi-Fi. You can do it direct, network, or USB (to PC). Just check in the ABOUT screen to see the version. If you've connected, chances are it already upgraded.

Yeah it has been known for some time that the app will be crippled in a way that the unit is borderline useless without the GIP.
I got really pissed when I saw that but it is what it is. Just pay the 99$ and move on. There is some healthy competition coming that will probably force ST to rethink the strategy several times before that GIP needs to be paid again.
Or sell the unit on eBay. I am still waiting for the sim option details to be clear before I decide to go GC2 or keep the ST.

davray666 - Curious what healthy competition you're referring to. Anything besides GC2? I'm still within a 30-day return period from the site I bought SkyTrak from. I've enjoyed playing the E6 demo on the unit so far, but not going to lie... I'm not that excited about having to pay ongoing subscription costs to access the majority features of a $2000 device I supposedly own.

We know about E16 and then there are probably a few that we don't know about yet. But waiting for the next thing is typically a bad idea.
I agree on the subscription cost for the basic range features. On the other hand to enable sim I would pay 100$/year (reluctantly but still)
If you are not going to use it for sim, then I would get rid of it on pure principle.

My GC2 is in transit and will arrive on Wednesday next week. Not sure when I am going to be able to test anything since my sim room is still under construction.
Ceiling is raised to 3.1m and I have a brand new impact screen design that is yet to be built.
Plan was to have it done by now but the weather has been unusually good so real life golfing has screwed up my schedule.

Anyone able to get their SkyTrak to report more than 38% battery? Mine has stopped charging and won't go above 38% even after removing the plug and plugging it back in.

In regards to battery, my unit says 68% after being charged overnight on wall charger. I plugged it in while hitting and it never moved from 68%. I've also noticed that the practice session settings do default to the last session other than the tracer automatically goes to 50. I prefer the tracer on 5 or even 1 but when I re-load it automatically goes to 50.

Hello Have new skytrak and bought the wgt pkg. Unit is only working in direct mode. Have reset unit, redownloaded ST and WGT apps. Forgot all other networks on my wifi. wgt says "loading: then "Looking for devices". I get an error msg: mainifest.xml in wgt. SkyTrak still works in Direct mode. It has never worked in netork mode although I have tried it connected to Skytrak and network modes. I have not been able to connect it reliably in network mode. I have 55 mbps signal on dedicated network. Thanks for any help you may provide....... Mark Steffens

Mark, it sounds like there may be an issue with the network credentials?? Obviously, you are getting the error in WGT because you need to be connected to the internet, not directly to SkyTrak. Can you send me a PM with your email and I'll see if I can get you sorted?

If it has never worked in network mode, it could also be your IP setup. If you happen to use 10.0.0.x as your local IP naming scheme, skytrak will not enter network mode. I fought this forever when I first got mine. I wound up changing to 10.10.0.x and all was well. Skytrak also works fine on 192.168.x x naming schemes. I'm not sure if this issue had been resolved by now, but fyi just in case .
