That is indeed good news.
Short chips on e6

Right now TGC is good fo oft hip but E6 and PG will not allow any soft chips at all. TGC you can select putter anywhere whereas E6 and PG will only allow putter on the green. The way TGC is doing it makes more sense and that info has been relayed to the powers that be.

Can we get the powers to be at skytrak to release TGC already??????????
With E6, it's either hit a mulligan to avoid the fringe or blow it by the hole and hope you stay on the green, neither of which is a very good option.

Trust me wbond, I am the most frustrated person in the world with Skygolf. I wish I could sit down and have a beer with you, discussing the events over the last 2 years. All I can say is that TGC has been ready for a long time now. In fact so has E6 and more recently PG. what they are waiting for is beyond me but more related to marketing/deals done etc than actual ability, if that makes sense!

Bubba22, is there nobody out that there that can kick these SkyTrak_Seth guys in the A$$?
At this time I'll buy TGC, I just to play some sim golf. E6 doesn't make sense with the chipping issues, WGT is a joke so it's PG and TGC, I don't care, whichever comes out first is getting my MONEY!!!!!Last edited by luv2golf; 11-29-2015, 03:22 AM.

I hear ya luv. I wish there was. I have been pushing as hard as I can. Part of the issue is that Skygolf is a big company and with that comes too much bureaucracy. They seem to be fixed on subscription services just like Skycaddie, which I hate personally. I only hope that they speed up their decision making pronto. ES16 is coming!

That sounds strange. Only resonable explanation I can come up with is that TGC comes with an ST firmware that none of the others have access to.Originally posted by Bubba22 View PostRight now TGC is good fo oft hip but E6 and PG will not allow any soft chips at all. Bubba22 please educate us how this is possible, if you can. Maybe it's confidential and you can't talk about it?
With PG+GC2 you can use putter anywhere on the course. Putter is auto selected when you are on the green, if you for whatever reason want to chip while on the green you have to deselect the putter.
So whatever the issue might be with ST+PG slow chips, it's an ST created problem.
Another question would be, have you tested the latest PG sim and E6 builds or are these results from earlier tests?

I don't think TGC has exclusive rights to some magic ST firmware.
I think all partners have access to the same SDK and firmware.
I said that this would be the only resonable explanation. Since the explanation is unreasonable it's obvious that E6 and PG will have the same putting and slow chip support once the official versions are out and the final SDK has been integrated.
Key point to understand here is that no sim software can invent what happened. They either get the data from the LM or not. The reason we can't test the alleged slow chip and put with ST range could be that there is no way for you use the app to tell the unit you are about to putt or slow chip. Assuming that is required.
Assumptions, speculations and guessing. That's what happens when the manufacturer refuses to communicate with their customers. Must be the worst product launch in the history of man kind.

Yes, but its all using the same SDK so in theory it should not make a difference.

I had the same issue with short chips (anything under 18 yards) with E6, but came across the following behavior when using the ST range app on PC:
When starting up the unit and the ST range, the shot trigger on the unit is extremely sensitive. Even small ball movements (when placing the ball) triggers it - or at least the laser dot disapears (which means it is calculating, right?). I was also able to chip 2.5 yards. No problem.
After a while practicing the problem was back. No short chips possible any longer. The unit just did not register very small shots.
Wild guess: The ST unit registers a lot of false positives on the shot trigger in the beginning and progresses to be less sensitive while active???
BTW: Firmware 1.4, PC v2.1

Bubba22 can you maybe record a short video using TGC and being able to chip the ball 10-15 feet to the hole from the fringe? I think its a hardware/design issue with the Skytrak. The device sits to close to the golf ball. So when people are hitting short chips/high flops the window the skytrak looks through isn't large enough to even view the ball.

Nope that's not it. The Skytrak cameras have a very wide FOV. Even a 70 deg VLA will be within the cameras view.
The problem is the fixed time trigg between the 2 cameras.
Simply increasing this time will not work either. This is way much more complicated than you would think by just looking at the high level functional description.

I will believe it when I see it. One thing they could do is that putts and chips are treated differently in a way that you assume certain things such as max back spin of 4000 RPM and max ball speed of say 70MPH. But these are just wild speculations.
Once it's released it will be easy for those of you that still care to see what they did and how accurate it actually is.
