New poster but I have been on forums for a while following ALL the Skytrak drama.

I received my unit about a month ago and consider myself one of the lucky ones. It has been working well since day one and even more so since V2.1.
I take my practice seriously and with 2 kids under the age of 2 (one newborn) I needed a more effective way. I purchased the unit more for range time than Sim, but Sim would be nice one of these days and I understand everyone's frustration.

Throwing a request out there if anyone is listening. When practicing I really find it helpful doing ladder drills in the target challenge mode. I start with a 60 degree and work through all my irons trying to get a certain amount of points before I move onto the next. One thing I hate is after every challenge I have to select "new game" which logs me back out of target challenge, then I have to select mode again and input difficulty level, # of shots and distance. I wish while in target mode a "new game" would bring you right back to the screen saving your hard-coded inputs and let you select new distance. Or if there was an option inside the targeted distance challenge you are in to select new distance. It's not a huge deal, but when you have sleeping kids and only 20 minutes to hit balls, it kind is.

Lastly something I noticed in regards to previous posts on high spin rate shots and distance. My high wedges also seemed a bit short to what I normally see on course. I was hitting with soft Wilson duos and proV1s. I hit a few the other day with Titleist Velocities and spin rate was down substantially on high wedges and distance seemed more accurate. Maybe this will help some?

Looking forward to the progression of Skytrak and all-in-all I am a satisfied customer at the moment.

Interesting on the velocity balls. I have avoided my gamers with urethane covers for longevity reasons, but I have cracked 4 e6 balls. I might try velocities.

I've done the target practice on my PC and it just lets me select 'New Game' and goes right back into it.

Correct new game brings you right back into same target with original set distance.

I would like to be able to change distance for next club in that screen without backing all the way out and selecting all the settings again.

I have had the same observation as Timdm3 with the wedges and even down to an 8iron for me, the spin rates appear to be correct being above 10,000 for soft covered balls on a well stuck wedge, however the distances seems to be shy which could be hitting surface related. I notice that this is especially pronounced with higher spinning shots. This could have to do with hitting surface interaction, with my hitting matt being so soft and spongy and maybe not trapping the ball the same as hitting off of grass. Is there anyone out there having the same issues, and is there anybody who has an outdoor experience hitting soft covered balls to confirm this?

So I purchased Skytrak and I am within my return policy and now I am seriously thinking of doing so. So many complaints not about the system but the company and how everyone is being treated. I am looking at waiting for the ES 16 to come out.. I hear lots of good things about the company and how they are willing to help you out of there are issues.. what are your views of what I should do?

My honest view on pros and cons of ST.

                Pros:
                - pretty good unit w pretty good accuracy (except for driver, short soft chips/flops and putting - which I hope they will fix in future)
                - still pretty good price point (esp if can get w some discount - so if you got a pre-order, blemished or demo unit w zero problems consider yourself lucky - not that their units all have problems but saves you the pain and headache of having to deal w SkyGolf customer service/support)

                Cons:
                - SkyGolf (which is responsible for issues such as the nonsensical annual subscription fees, delays in offering other sim alternatives and pathetic customer service including some questionable marketing/business ethics when dealing w consumers)
                - buggy and/or not-quite-ready for prime time software (including app as well as WGT)

So given you can probably sell your ST used for ~$1.5k, if you have the patience to deal w the above cons in partic SkyGolf, then maybe hang w ST for a little while and see how ES16 plays out.

If you really can't stomach dealing w SkyGolf, the buggy software or want real sim now instead of WGT, then probably best to return and go for ES16 or a used GC2 unit.

And of course, if you really got a bad unit, return it now ASAP.

I've had the unit for about 30 days. I've used it about 10 times indoors only. Other than a) wgt is not a real sim; b) driver distances seem too short on skytrak range and especially wgt; c) skygolf customer service is weak; d) there is no real sim option and I'm losing confidence there ever will be; e) chips under 10 yards (its worse for other units) don't register and f) its hit and miss with syncing success - its great.

Bottom line - I'm keeping it and will use it for at least a year. Once I can tell myself I got some value for it - I'm going to buy a gc2.

Sometimes what you see on forums is only the people with issues and the complainers - possibly not the best information to use.
